@DannyDeraney @Yankees What fundamentals did you have an issue with? Volpe goes to second to try to draw the throw on a cut off guarantee that Jazz scores the go ahead run . Players are taught to do that. Fundamentals have not been an issue with the 2026 team.

The issue with Wells is quality of AB - especially when moving a runner is needed- and propensity for Ks. Canny presents as a far better ball player in that regard (than Volpe as well) If metrics say otherwise about AB quality and making contact etc then I would be interested to see that

I said this when he signed, but it puts more genuine depression and sadness in my heart seeing this guy do his thing for the Mets instead of the Yankees than Juan seeing Soto do his thing for the Mets. I really hope this guy has a killer career, he deserves it (just not against the Yankees like every other ex-Yankee please). Juan Soto was a one year rental and it obviously hurt to lose him. But Luke Weaver was OUR success story and OUR guy, dude revived his entire career in a whole new way with the Yanks. One of the most likable personalities we've had on the team. And he was just an absolute friggin DOG in every important moment (besides B*g Chr*stmas) for the Yanks when he was healthy. One of my favorite relief pitchers to watch, ever. The comfort I felt when Luke came into the game when he was at his best was unparalleled with a lot of the modern day Yankee back-end guys. And I say this as someone who got to experience prime Mo. I hope Yankee fans aren't hating on Luke. He gave the Yanks so many good moments
