Ive now had 3 former Major League Baseball players that are friends of our family tell me a few nuggets regarding my son and his baseball endeavors:
1. Stop with “lessons”. “Stop letting coaches validate themselves by finding something to change.”
2. Let him hit, hit, hit.
3. Stop hitting off machines. They aren’t realistic. Tee, flips, BP. That’s it.
4. Let the athlete be an athlete.

I talked a dad who told me he spent $10k a year on travel baseball between tourneys, travel, and gear for his son. He got a partial scholarship to D-2 school. If he had put the $10k in a mutual fund each year, he would have had about $190,000. The scholarship was $5k a year.

College coaches and pro scouts: you will be charged by the ticket taker. That’s their job; they’re the ticket taker. If your org cannot afford the HS ⚾️ ticket cost, it might be time for a conversation with the higher ups.

It’s HS ⚾️ playoff time! If you’re working the ticket table and see someone walk up with a backpack, pen, stopwatch, & college logo, tell them to enjoy the game and keep working hard. Nobody asked you to pay to work the table, don’t ask us to pay to do our job. Carry on🫡@MSHSL

There’s a white flight situation happening in Prosper/Frisco/Celina of generational proportions.
I don’t know anyone who isn’t trying to get out. The appeal and culture has been completely gutted.

The Houston job is an interesting one. @UHCougarBB has some definite positives, including prime recruiting territory. However, there are serious financial constraints with this job. Will be an interesting search. #Big12

Berating an umpire who’s probably making 2K a month is such a great look for a guy who’s made millions. I am sure the Bauer fanboys will just defend it with “he’s passionate.”

The problem with travel baseball now?
Anybody can start a team.
Get 12 kids, order uniforms, enter tournaments, call yourself “elite”…
and suddenly you’re a travel organization.
That doesn’t mean the development is good, arms are handled right, or kids are actually improving.
