Today, I was given a permanent ban of posting on my Facebook page, @Meta. The page can exist - apparently - but I am not allowed to post on it anymore. The page has been deemed controversial due to the Giggle v Tickle case and increased popularity of 25,000 new followers in a week. I don't want to labor the irony of being banned on a social networking platform while fighting in court for the right to ban men from a woman only social networking platform, it is what it is. Frankly, I'd love to have the same right that you do, @Meta. Women are routinely punished for not accepting men as women. It doesn't turn those men into women. Nothing will.

The Supreme Court has ruled that under UK law, trans people never had the rights people like you insisted they had. You misrepresented the law and cheered on the removal of women’s rights. Trans people have lost nothing except the mistaken belief you fostered.
Rachel Millward@rachelmillward

Today my heart is with our trans community, treated so abysmally in this country. Draft guidance means trans people are barred from services they could previously access & inclusive service providers will be at legal risk. Green Party statement: greenparty.org.uk/2026/05/22/sia…

The BBC’s failure to cover the GIDS scandal has been a serious dereliction of its public duty. After resigning as a governor of the Tavistock, I was involved behind the scenes in the 2019 Panorama programme on GIDS. The producer warned me I might be disappointed the programme would expose only one part of the scandal, not the whole story. That warning told me everything I needed to know about the BBC’s problem with impartiality on this issue. When Sue Evans and Keira Bell won the first judicial review, there was no serious follow-up from the BBC News, Woman’s Hour, or other major outlets. Nor was there adequate coverage of one of the most important findings of the Cass Review: the poor quality of the evidence base behind medical interventions for children and adolescents with gender distress. Instead, the BBC repeatedly broadcast positive stories about transition while failing to investigate the harms, uncertainties, and institutional failures surrounding this field. Sue and I have seen some of the casualties. Parents have been badly let down by professional bodies that lacked the courage or independence to challenge the affirmative model none of which received the scrutiny a public broadcaster exists to provide. With honourable exceptions in Newsnight and the Today programme, the BBC has failed young people, failed parents, and failed in its most basic public duty.

Long 🧵 1 Reading Billy Bragg comparing the @EHRC Code with Thatcher & section 28 is baffling. In the 80s I was a left wing feminist teenager – demonstrating against s.28, implacably anti-Thatcher, visiting Greenham Common, the whole scene – & I came out as a lesbian in the 90s…
Scottish Lesbians@ScotLesbians

Naturally, we've been waiting with bated breath to find out what Billy Bragg thinks of the EHRC code, and here it is. TL;DR he's trying to equate single sex spaces - which benefit lesbians and gay men - with Section 28, which prohibited the promotion of homosexuality.

Dear @ucu There is something unsettling here. But it’s not the EHRC Code of Practice. It’s the bizarre lengths to which @UCU will go to avoid acknowledging the sex-based labour rights of women – and the total betrayal this entails of the workers, over generations and continents, through whose struggle and enormous personal sacrifice legal rules protecting women and girls against discrimination at work were established. Contrary to such rules, in recent years, female workers in Britain have been denied their human rights to dignity, privacy, equality and labour representation because of profoundly misguided approaches to trans-inclusion promoted and adopted, amongst others, by trade unions. The Supreme Court decision in For Women Scotland merely clarified what was always the law: ‘women’ for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010 is a sex-based class. The EHRC revised Code reflects this. ILO minimum standards – binding on the UK and globally – likewise demand it. What @UCU must now do ‘urgently’ is accept this, clean house, and consider how it can best make amends to the female workforce whose interests and representation it has so shamefully abandoned.
UCU@ucu

Equality is not conditional. Dignity at work is not negotiable. The EHRC Code of Practice has been published. UCU is examining it urgently. This is a significant and unsettling moment and we will not leave branches to navigate it alone. Employers' duties under equality and employment law remain in force; this does not change that. We've written to @UniversitiesUK: universities and colleges are responsible for protecting staff and students, not putting them at risk through rushed or inconsistent decisions. UCU will organise, defend, and fight for the rights of trans and non-binary people.

In which @amnesty is astonished that women began to organise to defend their rights at the time governments said they would legislate them away. This is a bit like asking why there was no criticism of Reform before 2018 or why the debate over assisted dying ramped up in the last two years.

Brilliant to see our Save Women’s Sport T-shirts en masse at Leicester Victoria parkrun this morning. Just a reminder that @parkrunUK has run out of excuses. The Female category means women and girls only - the law says so and the guidance tells us how to apply the law. While parkrun gets its act together we’ll keep wearing the T-shirts… link to our shop in next post.

My kids got their school photos back. One girl in my son’s class looks like your typical “non-binary” kid and has a boys name, so I asked my son if they were “trans.” He replied “I don’t know. I don’t talk to her at all in case I get in trouble for getting her pronouns wrong” No wonder trans identifying teens have high rates of suicidal ideation when other kids won’t even speak to them, not because they are mean, but because of the rules and traps the stupid ideology itself sets.

What a difference a looming bye-election makes. Andy Burnham has pivoted from opposing the Supreme Court Judgment to welcoming its ruling on biological sex. While we are pleased that Andy Burnham now says he accepts the need for service providers to comply with the Equality Act 2010 we couldn’t help sensing the statement was made through gritted teeth. Of course, we will take him at his (latest) word when he says female spaces must be protected. The current Prime Minister had a similar Damascene conversion when he realised votes were at stake. Women and girls have indeed been marginalised (although we’re not sure that’s who Andy meant when he expressed sympathy for ‘marginalised communities’). It has taken too long for politicians to stand up and state that women and girls are indeed entitled to single-sex services and sports because it’s the law. 400 days between the Supreme Court ruling and the EHRC Guidance… Andy wants us all to stop arguing with each other. No need for argument if the law that’s been the law since 2010 is implemented in full. For the avoidance of any doubt that’s: ✅ all female categories in sports are for women and girls only ✅ all female services are for women and girls only
Geri Scott@Geri_E_L_Scott

New: Andy Burnham has backed the EHRC guidance on single-sex spaces and said the Supreme Court ruling on biological sex must be implemented. Burnham told journalists at his campaign launch in Makerfield that his views had changed since previous comments made in 2022, and he said: "I think the time has come to take the Supreme Court ruling and the guidance and implement it. But to do it in a way, obviously, that protects those spaces, but does not marginalise already marginalised communities." He said: "Let's implement the guidance, but to do it in the fairest and most compassionate way possible." "We've got to move into the next phase and not constantly re-running the arguments. I think Britain has done this too much in recent times, you know, with Brexit and other things. We've got to stop arguing with each other."

If the policy announcement was "Men not allowed (by law) in women's changing rooms" and the main point of rebuttal was the men who want to go into women's changing rooms saying "How are you going to stop us then?" we would judge things very differently. ...
