@LBHF here’s some great advice from @SustransLondon. The local community in South Fulham would welcome Wandsworth Bridge Road being made safe for cyclists and pedestrians, to provide a thriving local high-street to the South Fulham 15 minute village.

This is what we think neighbourhoods are all about. And we want London Mayoral candidates to think the same. sustrans.org.uk/campaigns/our-… What do you think?

@GregHands @JM_Afonso @APascuTulbure “I convened a meeting between the council and TfL, but nothing’s really resulted.” After your years of glory in the Cabinet, as a trade minister, and as Party Chairman, is this how it ends, with a sad video about failing to get some pedestrian lights?

H&f Council and TfL have long been at loggerheads over the junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road, Townmead and Carnwath Roads. Pedestrian lights are very much needed and the main traffic lights are almost invisible to pedestrians.

Wondering how we SUPPORT the proposed Chelsea embankment bus lanes that certain MPs are staging petitions against?? @betterstreetskc are you aware of any consultation in which we can log our support?

@JoRigby_Balham “In the countryside where there are no cars”? In the countryside, where you actually can’t generally rely on public transport, but this person expects those people to live w/o cars, but not us, who live in this dirty, grey, smoggy, PUBLIC TRANSPORT-ENRICHED city!? I don’t get it!

@kristiansays @SandsEndFulham Under review since 2013? They did miss an opportunity to get it done while the bridge was closed - they say it will happens but we’re still waiting and risking our lives every time we cross at this junction. @LBHF please get on with it!

Wandsworth Bridge is open again. What a shame they didn't put pedestrian lights on the bridge side of the road.

@Robert_K_UK @NFBUK And cyclists would be prosecuted if caught. All I asked for was the same publicity around drivers if they are creating a campaign about zebra crossing safety - otherwise it’s just a campaign against cyclists, hopefully that’s not the case and it actually about zebra crossings.

Farringdon Street by the Italian Embassy, London. It’s a 2-way cycle lane bus stop bypass. Cyclists are seen not stopping for pedestrians at zebra crossing & riding over it while pedestrians are crossing. When some did stop, 1 carried on past 2 pedestrians on the zebra crossing.

What is going on with your Young Savers interest rates @MetroBank_Help? Is this the best you can offer? 1.65% AER yet base rate is 5.25%. Appalling, can’t you do better for kids saving for their future?

In May 2017, on Putney Bridge in London, an unidentified male jogger forcefully pushed a woman walking on a pedestrian walkway into the path of an oncoming bus. The man calmly continued jogging without a pause or change in pace, even as the woman fell backward onto the road. The bus driver skillfully swerved just moments before impact, narrowly avoiding hitting her. The bus stopped, and people poured out to help her. Bizarrely and brazenly the jogger eventually proceeded to jog the opposite side of the bridge, where the victim confronted him. He ignored her. CCTV footage of the attempted murder went viral, and photos of the man circulated on the internet. During the course of the year long investigation, several people were arrested for the crime. None were charged. Despite the city’s vast CCTV network, the jogging man has never been identified. The police closed the case in 2018 after the leads dried up.

@Segway_Batman I cycle in London as my main mode of transport. Travelled to Chicago for work in June, staying on Monroe, travelling daily to the McCormick Centre - shuttle bus provided but I needed daylight exposure so opted to cycle - no way I would cycle between Monroe and Grant Park though!

@RishiSunak @Telegraph “Earth to Rishi”!! ?? When will you see the harm caused to our urban environment and our planet as a whole by the over-use of cars? Supporting cars for unnecessary journeys doesn’t help anyone, it even adds millions to the already suffering NHS bill. Bigger picture, Rishi! 🤦‍♀️

Talking about freedom, sat in Margaret Thatcher’s old Rover. Earlier I spoke to @Telegraph about how important cars are for families to live their lives. It’s something anti-motorist Labour just don’t seem to get. And it’s why I’m reviewing anti-car schemes across the country.

@AdamPMatthews @AndyatAuto Change takes time, but 20 mph will feel normal soon and you will wonder how we were ever allowed to drive at 30mph in the dense urban environment - vulnerable road users must come first.

@AndyatAuto Drove up Finchley Road the other day, keeping to 20 takes more concentration than I expected. Kept creeping to 25. I’m so conditioned to feel 30mph in areas like that.

Drove into London today (anticipating a train strike) to be met with 20mph speed limits through-out central London, policed with hundreds of speed cameras. Another erosion of car users rights which along with ULEZ is likely to be unpopular with voters. I guess the argument for is lower emissions and crash injuries, but I doubt there is credible research behind this. 20mph should be reserved for around schools & hospitals where it’s entirely valid. Emissions in the streets of London will almost certainly higher since one drives in a lower gear to control momentum avoiding the speed cameras. And at 20mph, I’m now swarmed by bicycles overtaking from all angles raising the risk of collision. I’d love to see the research that supports this but like so many thing’s these days, I doubt it’s supported by valid facts but rather political expedience.
