New analysis: Political prisoner releases in Belarus (2024–2026) Role of 🇵🇱 Poland and 🇺🇸 United States belaruswomen.org/en/projects/ur… Releases occur where there is political will to apply external pressure. The decisive factor is not only resources, but the willingness to use them.

🚨 I’ve filed a lawsuit against Raiffeisen in the Civil Court of Vienna, presenting evidence of their role in aiding oppressive regimes to confiscate assets and seize valuables from safety deposit boxes. I am eager to see Strobl (CEO) and Hameseder (Chairman) in court, expose them as examples of how some individuals prosper on the blood and suffering of others, and welcome the media to witness this fight for justice. Dear friends, Starting tomorrow, we’ll be together again! Stay updated on Twitter and LinkedIn. I’ll be sharing news about our new projects, and I promise there will be plenty of surprises and exciting developments. Over the past hundred years, #Belarus land has faced immense challenges: two world wars that claimed the lives of nearly a third of our people, the Chernobyl disaster, and over 30 years of a personal regime marked by political murders, torture, prisons, and exile for those striving for freedom and prosperity in our country. When soldiers stand armed to protect their homeland from an external enemy, it is an honor. When internal forces and the police protect the defenseless and vulnerable from criminals, that too is an honor. But when these “defenders” turn their weapons on peaceful citizens — their own fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters — it is more than shameful. There is no act lower than, armed, to assault an unarmed elderly person or young woman who simply wants to “live by truth,” following the laws of morality and justice. According to the Bible, Cain once killed his brother Abel out of jealousy for his hard work and talent. And God punished Cain with three curses. “The land, drenched in innocent brotherly blood, will no longer yield to you.” Belarus, which has some of Europe’s richest soils, now has some of the world’s most neglected agricultural towns and dying villages, despite billions of dollars invested. Cows drown in filth; pigs starve. “You will be a wanderer on Earth.” Belarusians abroad face closed accounts, confiscated cars, and blocked goods on global markets. Many Belarusians hide their nationality to avoid being associated with a country that hijacks civilian aircraft, creates tension at borders with migrants, and lends its territory and arms against people who once considered Belarusians their closest friends. “You will be exiled to the East, and there, in the land of Nod, you will lead a miserable existence.” And so they live, suffering degrading treatment, subject to arbitrary imprisonment, torture, and even death — over a comment, the color of clothing, or nothing at all, with no accountability for their persecutors. Belarusians are trapped in a “land of Nod,” cut off from the world. Those who want to see the developing world endure humiliating visa queues, anxious waiting for an entry verdict, and hours at borders. All this to glimpse a world that long ago left behind the concept of visas and queues. For a long time, we misunderstood the meaning of the 2020 revolution, seeing it as just an event. We were wrong. It was the start of a new era. Unlike past revolutions, it wasn’t directed at the masses or classes but at each individual. That’s why it didn’t prevail by force. Yes, we see a regression, a slide back into the past. Medieval attitudes of arrogance and rudeness toward the “serfs” have returned to public life. But this is temporary. Time moves forward inexorably. We are going through our own purgatory, and we need just a bit more time to cleanse ourselves of the darkness and filth they are trying to impose again. The future is inevitable. Development and progress are unstoppable. But this path is no high-speed highway. It’s more like a winding country road, sometimes veering off course or even leading backward. To keep the future from being overtaken by demagogues and opportunists, and to prevent a return to the past, we must take the time to understand our world, our era, and ourselves. For this, it’s worth “taking up the pen” and “telling the story of the time and of oneself.” Let’s do this together!

The World Faces a New Order. Attempts to negotiate with terrorists and buy their loyalty have not succeeded. Money provided by Western institutions does not benefit ordinary people. It ended up enriching a few, who use the funds to establish a control over media and form private military companies. Media serves as propaganda machine, and military companies, pretending to be state forces, behave like terror groups. The recent #hamasattack on #Israeli civilians has prompted a re-evaluation of past strategies. While many focus on #IsraelPalestineWar, there is a broader geopolitical issue to consider. President Biden's recent statements suggest the West is preparing to address more serious challenge now. With the long-standing U.S.- Iran tensions, there may be a chance to finally address the Iran issue. Iran's support for groups like #Hamas and #Hezbollah combined with its statement of opening a "second front" in the event of an Israeli ground operation could be perceived as a declaration of war. Such a declaration could pave the way for the use of force against Iran, reminiscent of the preemptive strategy Israel employed in the Six-Day War of 1967. If an intervention of Hezbollah and Iran is inevitable should Israel risk engagement on two separate fronts? It might be more strategic to first contend with Hezbollah. If Iran remains uninvolved in an assault on Hezbollah, it risks its reputation in the Muslim world. Alternatively, any intervention by Iran will inevitably trigger a response from NATO allies. In such a climate, the delayed ground operation in Gaza is clear: the prime target is not Hamas, but Hezbollah. This is the reason of strategic positioning of two U.S. aircraft carrier groups in the Mediterranean Sea, and the deployment of two Royal Navy ships by the UK. The eight-year-long war between Iran and Iraq showed that handling Iran for the US might be the same challenge as to deal with Iraq. When the U.S. exerted military pressure, Saddam Hussein's “legendary” 300,000 - guard seemingly vanished. Internal tensions within Iran, driven by both dissatisfaction with stringent Islamic rules and interethnic factors, should help to solve the issue. With around 30 million Azerbaijanis, Turkish speaking people, and 7 million Kurds residing in Iran can become a serious factor in case of military actions. In light of these developments, U.S. President Biden called for a special teleconference. Participants included: Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau of Canada, President @EmmanuelMacron of France, Chancellor @OlafScholz of Germany, Prime Minister @GiorgiaMeloni of Italy, Prime Minister @RishiSunak of the UK. Their discussions centered on the unfolding events in the Middle East. P.S. In relation to Iran, there is an absolute consensus among the political elites in the US. Resolving the issue with Hamas and Hezbollah will question the continued existence of the regime in Iran. After all, the main Trump's asset is his decisiveness and readiness to act. Biden, by showing a determination to solve complex international problems, will not only strengthen American leadership in the Middle East, but will get an almost certain chance of being re-elected for a second term.

A new window of opportunities will soon open. The authoritarian leaders and the political systems built around them will inevitably fade. They will decay and degrade, the same way as those who represent them. No one will be able to inherit these systems. This is particularly true as the end of an authoritarian system approaches, the political landscape is cleared of bright, capable, strong-willed individuals. In the early 1990s, Russia and Belarus failed to integrate into the Western value system. As a result, the world saw the rise of two dictatorships, which caused to #RussiaUkrainianWar, opening gates for different conflicts throughout the world, including #IsraelPalestineWar. A period of relative freedom is practically inevitable until new political scenarios will form. It is crucial that this period culminates in the establishment of democratic value systems and will not slide again into dictatorship as it already happened twice in a modern Russian history. In Belarus, the transition from communist rule to democracy failed after 4 years of freedom and ended up with a primitive dictatorial rule. The challenge is not just about establishing democratic institutions. They cannot function effectively without a strong middle class. Neither Russia nor Belarus has successfully developed this middle class. In Russia, hasty privatization resulted in major national assets falling into the hands of a narrow group of oligarchs. Consequently, Putin was able to either subordinate or force them out of the country. In Belarus, privatization hardly took place, with state enterprises remaining under the regime's control. The massive middle class cannot be subordinated that easy by several autocrats. I warned about the repercussions of oligarchic privatization and its impact on geopolitical processes back in 1998 in my article in Foreign Affairs foreignaffairs.com/articles/china…, emphasizing the potential for a new partitioning of Eurasia. Together with @AmbJohnBolton , then Vice-President of the American Enterprise Institute, we extensively discussed various scenarios of globalized conflicts in Eurasia. Unfortunately, many of these predictions came true. Zbigniew Brzezinski, who was with CSIS at the time, was more intrigued not by forecasts about potential conflicts involving China, Iran, and Turkey in post-Soviet spaces but by the reaction of Russian officials to my essay's allegations concerning corrupt privatization deals that were not customary during the 'honeymoon' phase of the US-Russia relations. We must be prepared not to repeat a 30-year-old mistake. We need to develop mechanisms, both financial and economic, that would deeply integrate a significant portion of Belarus' and, based on its success, Russian population into the Western economy on individual, not only on a corporate level. This is why we need to prepare legislative proposals now, actively discuss and debate them, so we do not waste time arguing later. We would appreciate your feedback regarding the proposal we drafted. Send your thoughts and comments to info@belarusforum.org . Budling democracy worldwide should be our joint mission. belarusforum.org/en/documents/l…

The primary reason for a lawsuit against the @EU_Commission is that since 2020 it has imposed sanctions on Belarusian people and simultaneously funded organizations, responsible for violating human rights, compromising the independence of mass media, and orchestrating massive leaks of activist data (in violation of the EU's GDPR Act). These actions resulted in the arrests of many Belarusian citizens, with some receiving prison sentences of up to 24 years. The sanctions of the Commission predominantly affected the people of #Belarus, who were not responsible for the atrocities of the regime, do not bear responsibility for Belarus’ involvement into #RussianUkrainianWar. Banking accounts of small and medium-sized businesses, unaffiliated with the Lukashenko regime, were shut down. The personal accounts of ordinary Belarusians opposing the dictatorship were also closed. The visa regime was tightened, numerous consulate divisions of European countries were shut, and visa prices rose substantially. By freezing the accounts of Belarusian businesses and citizens, the Commission handed #Lukashenko an efficient mechanism to increase revenue from Belarusian taxpayers. Financial transactions became transparent for the regime, granting it a prime opportunity to amplify tax collections from both individuals and businesses. Armed with this tool, Lukashenko increased salaries for his oppressive machinery, secured additional funds to target Belarusians who peacefully protested against rigged elections, and efficiently persecute them. The perceived corruption within the Commission, coupled with the persecution of pro-democracy advocates in Belarus and the preferential treatment of regime-tied businesses, has made many Belarusians skeptical of the proclaimed democratic principles and values viewing them as mere hypocrisy. Belarusians (on photos) are able to see how their sacrifices for democracy are punished by the Commission and monetized by individuals never fighting for democracy.

I have filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice @EUCourtPress against the @EU_Commission In collaboration with certain member states, the Commission used its political influence, administrative mechanisms, and financial resources to undermine the unity of the democratic movement in #Belarus and discredit genuine freedom fighters. Its actions aided #Lukashenko in consolidating his power. This directly led to a marked increase in political prisoners, facilitated Russia's subsequent occupation of Belarus, and resulted in the deployment of nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory. The EU Commission violated fundamental democratic principles, such as representation and participation. It supplanted leaders, who had the public endorsement of the Belarusian people, with spurious structures populated by unknown individuals. These replacements, in contrast to hundreds of thousands of Belarusians, have never risked their lives or freedom for democratic ideals. The Commission also infringed upon the principles of openness and transparency, as articulated in The Lisbon Treaty. They did this by covertly selecting a few individuals unrelated to the democratic movement, making them the financial beneficiaries of the sacrifices and sufferings of millions of Belarusians. In contravention of Article 11 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, that protects freedom of expression, the Commission indirectly supported censorship by transforming Belarus' independent media into a mouthpiece for a political faction that represents only a small fraction of Belarusian society. This policy is diverting Belarusians from Western values, pushing them towards the state and Russian war propaganda, which has seen its audience increase tenfold. Additionally, endorsing agreements with numerous Belarusian journalists and bloggers that prohibit criticism of a select group unrelated to Belarus's democratic movement, while promoting the humiliation of genuine freedom fighters, breaches the Charter's explicit protection of human dignity. The preferential treatment, bias, and exclusionary policy practiced by the EU Commission fundamentally breach the principles of equality and solidarity as laid out in the Treaty on European Union. The pressure exerted on children by Lithuanian authorities, acting as EU proxies in policies related to Belarus, is not just a violation of Article 24 of the Charter but also contradicts the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The sanction policy, targeting millions of Belarusians who advocate for democratic values, combined with increased trade ties with companies under the Minsk regime's control, and the preferential treatment of businessmen linked to the Lukashenko regime, among other power abuses is also a part of this lawsuit. We have provided approximately 100 pages of evidence to support all claims to the esteemed Court. We sincerely hope the Court will approach this case with the gravity it deserves, devoid of any prejudice against Belarusians as a lesser nation, and acknowledging that the EU's human rights principles should equally apply to the people of Belarus as a European nation.

Despite bravado statements about insignificance for Russia the decisions of @IntlCrimCourtICC that issued a warrant arrest on #Putin , the Kremlin got scared to visit the #BRICSInAfrica2023 summit. "The driving force behind of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South African alliance", as Putin was depicted by Russian propaganda, is afraid to be arrested abroad. Extracting the Russian leader from the Kremlin in order to execute the ICC decision is not however that simple - the surrounding is still loyal to him and logistically it is quite challenging. However, it would not be difficult to hold his accomplice #Lukashenko accountable. Moreover, the path to this is open – the @Europarl_EN Parliament just few days ago called on ICC to issue arrest warrant for #Belarus dictator. It would be exciting to witness the 'rat race' - how Lukashenko's inner circle will compete to be the first to deliver him to The Hague. Especially if a slight reward is offered for his arrest. Unlike Putin's wealthy entourage that financially benefitted from being close to the major Russian kleptocrat, Lukashenko's surrounding is a “motley crew”, whose task is to serve the interests of one family and that experiences constant humiliation of their dignity from the dictator. And it is only 100 miles to the border with the European Union, where he can be delivered by a minibus in less than 2 hours. ICC Prosecutor @KarimKhanQC has all evidence in order to open a criminal case against Lukashenko for murders of innocent people, slaughtering of political opponents, tortures, unlawful imprisonments, orchestrated migrants crisis, hijacking commercial aircraft, illegal child trafficking, aggression against #Ukraine and other crimes against humanity. The violations of Convention against Torture, the Convention on Elimination of Racial Discrimination and the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Chicago Convention for Civil Aviation could be used to start proceedings in ICC. The Belarus regime should also be accountable for violations of a labor law, international migration law, and international sport law. Different NGOs, such as @Belarus_Forum , @belarus_women, civic tech initiatives, the OSCE Moscow and Vienna mechanisms, the International Accountability Platform for Belarus, and the @UNHumanRights mechanisms collected evidence and highlighting crimes by Lukashenko regime and submitted documents to ICC.

Why is there so much hypocrisy? In 2020, my team, alongside Viktor Babariko, called over 600,000 of our supporters, that officially endorsed us to run for the president and millions of those, who would be ready to vote for us during 2020 elections to put aside personal interests to champion change. Maria Kolesnikova and Veronica @VTsepkalo bravely followed my request to support @Tsihanouskaya putting their lives at great risks, since their decision to challenge #Lukashenko was not approved by him. We do not know, what happened in the Central Electoral Committee, what promise you made to Lukashenko people, and what papers you signed in exchange of money you received from them. But after this meeting the unity of democratic forces ceased to exist. Over the course of 3 years, we unsuccessfully tried to preserve the unity. We organized @Belarus Democratic Forum, which brought together presidential candidates, two former speakers of Belarus parliament, representatives of almost 80 different organizations, initiatives, political parties and movements. You and your entourage were repeatedly invited, including publicly, witnessed by thousands of Belarusians. You ignored the initiative; moreover, your office did everything to compromise the idea of unity and discouraged other activists to come. Despite all odds, Veronica Tsepkalo two months ago convinced the president of the @EU_Commission Ursula @vonderleyen and the the European Parliament @EP_President Roberta Metsola to organize a strategic session on Belarus. This proposal was made in your presence (see a photo) and was supported by them. But you deceitfully crossed out Veronica, who risked her life and freedom in order to bring democratic changes to our country from the list of participants and included those, who did not have a feet on Belarus soil for decades or kept silence when thousands of Belarusians protested against stolen elections. So, who is your message truly intended for? European bureaucrats, mostly indifferent to the aspirations of Belarus people? How did you explain, that the initiator of the strategic session had been excluded from the list of participants? What promises you made to Lukashenko, that undermined everything Belarusians believed in during 2020. #Hypocrisy #Belarus #Unity

Stop Chinese disseminate false information! Chinese Foreign Ministry @ForeignChinese disseminates information regarding the National Endowment for Democracy @NEDemocracy of the support of @Tsihanouskaya and her team during the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus. It is completely false, having a purpose to accuse the United States of interfering in the internal affairs of an independent nation. The truth is that Tsikhanouskaya's team, consisting of just three individuals, did not receive any financial support from abroad. In fact, at the time of a campaign she even publicly stated that if she would receive money, she would never have embarked on fighting for the so-called rights of the Belarusian people. As a dependent housewife, she didn't even have a car to transport signature lists to local electoral committees – it was my electoral team that provided her with the assistance. All the support for Tikhanovskaya's campaign, including organizing rallies, providing vehicles, microphones, security, and agitational materials, was financed solely by myself and Viktor Babariko. I had to sell my house to contribute to the democratic changes in #Belarus. Me and Viktor made immense sacrifices, risking our lives and freedoms. Later Maria Kolesnikova and Veronica Tsepkalo, two brave women from our teams, faced significant risks as they both campaigned against #Lukashenko without his permission, which made them prime targets of the regime. In order to remove Chinese speculations and pay a tribute to our efforts to bring democracy to Belarus, @DamonMacWilson has to make a public statement that the NED played no role in this campaign. NED probably funded certain individuals, but those, who never participated in any political campaign, be it at the presidential, parliamentary, or even village council level. The reason of Wilson’s friends avoid from political campaigns was clearly explained by @franakviacorka, one of his probable partners in money sharing: 'We do not want to be harmed.' Bureaucracy, as it is known, is driven by the aim to maintain lucrative positions, devoid of principles or values. Let me pose a simple question: What would happen if authoritarian regimes like Russia and Belarus were to cease to exist? The people, whose job is “to promote democracy” would lose their high salaries and social status. This is precisely why the NED mainly supports projects that pose no harm to dictatorial regimes. As a bureaucrat, Wilson would definitely never agree to engage in any public discussion – either with me or even with Veronica @VTsepkalo, who stood firm with democratic principles, risked her life and freedom. With his soaring salary, he prefers to operate in the shadows. Money, as they say, loves silence. Nevertheless, I have to tell the truth about the real freedom fighters, not puppets, that are “afraid of been harmed”. Viktor Babariko and Maria Kolesnikova are currently imprisoned. Veronica works tirelessly to make ends meet and support her two young children. Oleg Moiseev, who was a close member of Svetlana's team during the campaign in Belarus, is currently employed as a worker installing sanitary engineering in Lithuanian apartments. So, if the President of NED has principles or values, he will publicly declare both to American and Chinese people that his organization had nothing to do with Belarus aspirations for changes in 2020. Neither Chinese nor Americans can blame NED for the support of democracy in Belarus. Let us put an end to Chinese speculations regarding the NED support for freedom fighters in Belarus and - if the same approach exists in relations to other countries - elsewhere in the world! Chinese Foreign Ministry statement fmprc.gov.cn/eng/zxxx_66280… P.S. The pictures enclosed, everything was financed by our own resources. I knew nothing about NED that Chinese officials try to depict as a sponsor of high aspirations of Belarusians for changes! @washingtonpost @nytimes @StateDept @USCongress

📢 Alleged infiltration in Belarusian opposition revealed! The dissident underground network United Resistance publishes exposing materials about Alexander Azarov, head of BYPOL, implicating him in the Belarusian Major Intelligence Agency. Based on findings consulted by @Intel_Online, Azarov was secretly detached by the interior ministry to the special intelligence department of the defense ministry for training as part of an "unprecedented hybridization operation" between the Intelligence Major Agency and GUBOPiK (analog of KGB). Details in the article below. intelligenceonline.com/government-int… The investigation materials highlight Azarov's alleged contract with the foreign intelligence department of the ministry of defense until 30.03.2023, along with his activities in identifying activists in Belarus, leading to their subsequent arrests. On the basis of this information, considering BYPOL's location in Poland, I urge @AndrzejDuda, @MorawieckiM, and @ABNPoland to conduct an immediate inspection and verify the veracity of these claims. If necessary, take measures to detain Azarov for a potential exchange involving political prisoners such as @poczobut. An official appeal for verification will be sent to the Polish authorities. @gazeta_wyborcza, @michalski_artur, @PolandMFA, @RauZbigniew, @Wilinski_Legal, your attention and support are crucial in this matter. #Belarus #Opposition #Infiltration #Intelligence The document at the link t.me/oshorg/44
