Don’t blame the vehicle, blame the driver. Beaching in a divider in good visibility conditions can only happen if you are an utter moron.

Summers are coming and people will be challaned by police for using sun shades to escape scorching heat. But if you are a Bollywood actor, nothing happens. You can drive with black film and zero visibility. A common man does the same and faces heavy fines. Laws seem to exist only for the common man in this country.

Search for @zerodha on Google or the app stores, and the first thing you'll see is ads from our competitors. The only way for us to show up first is to bid on our own brand keyword. So we'd essentially be paying to be visible when a customer is actively looking for us by name, and if we don't, competitors will happily take that spot. What's worse is that ads now show up above and below our own keyword. That tells you everything about where platforms are headed. The only winners here are the app stores who collect the ad spend on top of the commissions they already charge on in-app purchases. And one way or another, this marketing spend eventually flows back to customers in the form of higher prices. We live in a world where everybody keeps talking about disintermediation, but these platforms are some of the most powerful and profitable gatekeepers in history. They sit in the middle and monetise both sides. If you believe in the logic of enshittification, this is just the beginning. Platforms extract as much as they can, for as long as they can, until they can't. More ads means more scrolling before you hit any organic results, which means brands that don't pay simply stop being visible. That's manageable if you're a large company with a marketing budget. For smaller businesses and startups it can be devastating. They just can't afford to keep up. The sheer irony of having to pay to show up when someone is already searching for you by name never stops being absurd.

@kushanmitra Oh great. A fast charger like this or better in Rudrapur/Haldwani would be a delight. Hapur is too close to Delhi

@berges @StatiqIndia Didn't have an issue with them other than morons blocking parking. Also, they've partnered with @HyundaiIndia for 180kW chargers and one just opened up at Hapur.

The biggest impediment for EV adoption in India right now is not the number of models available nor the availability of chargers, although I think more 180kW+ chargers are needed, but home charging. This is a particular problem in many residential societies where the RWA authorities have been extremely negative about charger installation. Let along personal chargers but also community chargers. And this is a major issue across India and despite assurances by charger installation companies, electricity board and municipal authorities, it remains a persistent problem. And that is just in societies where parking isn't an issue. God forbid you buy an EV if you live in a DDA colony like Vasant Kunj where parking is a daily fight. This is possibly going to be the hardest issue to solve but if commercial charging costs remain steady when petrol/diesel/CNG prices inevitably shoot upwards later this month, the operating cost advantage even with commercial charging at Rs 21-30/unit will come through. Incidentally, commercial charging rates are fairly low in India compared to many other large economies. At par with China but positively compared to Europe. In the UK, charging rates range from 45-85p per unit.

@kushanmitra @StatiqIndia They have literally single digit such chargers set up. So as of today, their prices are on par with any foreign country. Also not to mention the piss poor reliability. The last three times I tried to charge at the Statiq charger at Gajraula, it didn’t work.

@berges Nahin Berges, I met the @StatiqIndia folks a few months ago. All their new chargers are now 120kW/2 and can be upgraded to 240kW with more backend infra. Older chargers are often 60/2 but more faster chargers are being setup.

@kushanmitra @KiaInd No way the ev6 touches anything close to 600. The pre-facelift does 450-460. In the best of times. Adding 5-8 kWh, would take that to 500. Anything 550 plus is impossible. The WLTP itself says up to 581.

Just returned the @KiaInd EV6 GT Line after a couple of weeks, fantastic vehicle and as everybody who saw this car told me, this is one of the nicest paint jobs that they’ve ever seen on a car - this colour us called Yacht Blue Matte, but it looks like this awesome combination of Matte and Gloss. I’ve driven this car before, even pre-facelift but this was the first time I had it for an extended period. While folks might balk at the ₹70 lakh price, it is a very capable EV. I charged it fully over the weekend at home and after driving it extensively the last few days, it can easily manage 580-600km on a single charge in heavy urban traffic conditions. At current residential power rates, that works out to ₹1 - 1.25/km. If traffic is moderate, I’m sure that the claimed 650km isn’t far-fetched with the 84kWh Li-NMC cell. I drove on ‘Auto’ Regen mode which uses the forward vision camera to brake as required- note that the Clavis EV has this great feature as well on the HTX+ spec. That said, before I’d charged it, I had some fun with this car. And it is a fun EV with 321 horsepower and dual motors and when you floor it, it is spectacular fun. What ICE vehicle could one compare this to? I’d reckon the BMW M340i; similar price albeit slight better performance (and noise). However, the ‘delta’ on operating costs if you charge at home is around ₹8-10/km at current power and petrol prices.

Reliance Industries has capped fuel purchases across its retail outlets — limiting customers to about Rs 1,000 worth of petrol or diesel per visit at fuel stations it operates with partner BP Plc. The JV runs more than 2,000 fuel pumps of some 102,000 pumps in India but is first to impose such a cap which may be `localised'. via @talktosanjai bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

How can we still live in a world where Israel is allowed to murder hundreds of people, at least 250, — with 100 bombs dropped in 10 minutes across Lebanon — and there is not a single word of condemnation from Western government? How can we live with such abomination?
