I'm grateful to, and impressed by @elonmusk, for all he's done. But I'm still a bit disturbed to see posts by the owner of this platform appear so often in my "For You" feed. I wish we could independently source the algorithms that determine our feeds.

@JamesRaxz Biden and Obama made the exact same mistake in terms of wanting to be a post-partisan healer rather than a partisan warrior

We got Biden the Redeemer. It fit his personality. It also was unsuited for what MAGA is. The one who would bring the family together. We needed Biden the Avenger, the one who deterred against a MAGA revivial.

Biden made a bet - an honest but wrong one - that he could diffuse MAGA in the swingies and red states through economic development. Didn't work. People just swapped their real fears for fake fears (DEI). There are two takeaways from this experience:
Armand Domalewski@ArmandDoma

the Biden economic argument was “brought back manufacturing, raised wages,” just turned out people cared way more about prices being high! why do people think a nurse in Georgia upset her rent doubled could’ve been won over by hearing Biden brought back factory jobs in Ohio

@lxeagle17 I think you've got to disaggregate the small and large donors there, obviously billionaire donors pull the party right on economics, if not on the various idiosyncratic social causes they support

Do people like Mehdi Hasan know that the billionaire donors are actually pulling the Democratic party to the left? The average Democratic voter is considerably to the right of the average Democratic donor, whether small-donor or large.
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

It’s a great quote, but the piece as a whole jumps on this new bandwagon of blaming ‘groups’ in the Dem coalition for defeat, and implying they control everything, rather than the billionaire class and special interests which have far more control on the modern Democratic Party.

@GAFollowers A good cop would have told the kid to go back home…followed him in the cruiser and when they arrived at the home talk to the mother about the law and tell her she doesn’t need to let him do that again…easier to do the asshole thing I guess.

@bryan_caplan Yeah economics is just not as mathematical of a subject as people want it to be. More like political science or psychology than physics

“Show a typical economist a theory article, and watch how he ‘reads’ it: He reads the abstract and introduction, flips the theory pages, then reads the conclusion.  If math is so enlightening, why do even the mathematically able routinely skip the math?” betonit.ai/p/economath_fa…

I will never understand how so many people suggest that diet soda is worse, or even just as bad for you, as normal-sugar soda. The science is extremely clear that it's not even close!!

🚨 JOE ROGAN: “Obama during the Kamala Harris campaign really changed my opinion of him. I used to have a high opinion of him as an intelligent person. I thought he was just caught up in the system. Watching him straight up lie about Trump, with the ‘very fine people,’ thing, the white supremacist thing, which I think worked back in 2017 but people don’t believe it anymore, changed my opinion of him. People have grown numb to this stuff.”

Notice how not a single item in this list actually makes it easier to build and create things via removing currently existing legal barriers This is what happens when you have Lawyer Brain — your mind can only ever comprehend banning and controlling things

Unbelievably funny that California's *Senate* race is about to end up within 20 points in a presidential year again. In presidential cycles, this state hasn't been below D+20 since 2004, when Kerry won it by 9.95%. Schiff is going to put up an awful underperformance this time.
