I got a chance to be interviewed for a job. They offered a date/time that was less than two business days from the day I was informed about that interview. I emailed back and explained that I had work commitments that people were depending on me to keep, but could we schedule it for the following week? That day I was not available. The response I received was that it was the only date and time they could do an interview with me. I politely had to decline, and I thanked them for the opportunity. I dodged a bullet, didn't I?

Trying to get @JonHaidt canceled because you are offended that he once said you are coddled might be the biggest self-own of all time.

@avidseries I'm curious if it was just race based or if it also favored other groups considered underrepresented? We should check how many non-binary furries were admitted.

“Yale’s use of race resulted in a Black applicant being as much as 29 times higher odds of getting an interview for admission than an equally strong Asian applicant with similar academic credentials.”
The Washington Post@washingtonpost

Breaking news: After a year-long investigation, the Justice Department concluded the Yale School of Medicine discriminated based on race in its admissions, favoring Black and Hispanic applicants over White and Asian ones. wapo.st/3Rp0yTo

Apparently there’s a NYU commencement dust-up over my dear friend and co-author @JonHaidt. Student government reportedly called to disinvite him, calling his campus critiques too divisive, which rather proves "The Coddling of the American Mind” had a point. And for the record, we never liked the title.

@jakozloski @ScottUpham There are pretty good proxy's: education, professional attainment etc ... While these are not perfect they are good enough for a rule of thumb and most people marry within their peer group.

"Would you marry someone less intelligent than you?" Outright "no": Women: 45% Men: 8% Women are nearly 6x more likely to rule it out entirely. The single largest gender disparity in our deep-question dataset.

@NormalGayPsych The lifelong identity is so pervasive across multiple things and yet it's not reality. People have many parts (some contradictory) and so change over the years. I was a motorcycle riding thrill seeker now am a suburban dad. And I'm really glad I didn't get stuck in my punk phase

The data is brutal: Anxiety and depression up ~10% since last year. Over 23% of adults with a mental illness. Gen Z reports monthly struggles at insane rates. More awareness, more access, worse outcomes. Why? We’ve turned normal human suffering into a lifelong identity and growth industry.

As a trained psychiatrist, I’m exhausted by the mental health conversation today. More people than ever are in “therapy,” taking meds, posting about their diagnoses... yet anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation keep rising — especially in young people. We’re doing it wrong. Thread. 🧵

@jessesingal @EsotericCD My commencement speaker was quite famous and became well respected if less visible as he aged, but what everyone remembers him for is his early work. Think of someone who made his name like Kramer without the racist rant.

@politicalmath I have no doubt that the Democrats are hypocritical as hell on this. But I'd be shocked if there are no Republicans doing the same - after all, they are still politicians.

@Boiling_Oceans @hr_unhinged Perhaps, but also in fairness, if you're considering a candidate to work for you but can't even trust them with a guest wifi password, you're an idiot.

I cannot believe a candidate actually asked me for the guest network password today. We were settling into the glass conference room for a data analyst interview. He opened his laptop and casually requested our Wi-Fi credentials to load his presentation. I asked him why he felt entitled to our bandwidth before signing an NDA. I told him that relying on external connectivity demonstrates a terrifying lack of offline preparedness. If the internet goes down, does his value as an employee vanish with it? I slammed his laptop shut and escorted him to the elevator. He will not be working here.

@MurrayHillGuy1 Two elements of my experience in NYC. 1. Women will go home with you if they think you have money (lots of desperate gold diggers ~ 30yo) 2. Be casual and normal if you actually like the girl and think she's gf material

@BradleyGrey_ @WestsideLAGuy I've never dumped a girl for sleeping with me too fast. I did however never get past the booty call stage with many who did. My wife made me wait and get to know her as a person. I nearly moved on a few times but... she's the one I married.

Huge gaslighting I'm seeing from girls on X is their assertion that if a girl has sex too early, the guy will lose interest and move on. Ladies, this is laughably wrong. If a guy moves on, it's due to at least one of the following: -sex was bad -she's crazy -he found a better girl Virtually no guy says "wow she looks like Margot Robbie in her prime, feminine, kind, fun, amazing! but damm it, she fucked me on the first date so I have to ghost her!" Nope, that's not a thing.
