Gillibrand just released a brief statement after reports surfaced that her son, who recently graduated college, received $30 million in venture capital for an industry his mother helped oversee in the Senate: “My son is a grown adult starting his own independent business.” 👍
Henry Burke@burkehenryt

Gillibrand's son graduated from undergrad on Sunday. Today it's reported that he's received $30 million in venture capital funding to launch a derivatives exchange. His mom sat on the Senate Agriculture committee—which has jurisdiction over derivates—until this past year

You don't have to agree with every Israeli policy. You do have to explain why Israel is held to standards that nobody else is.

The fact that orbital compute is (soon) the most efficient way to build datacenters says a lot about how much excessive regulation has harmed progress on earth. It’s more efficient to fly to outer space than to try and build on land. Freedom is always on the frontier. The U.S. constitution was a breakthrough in that it protected citizens from tyrannical government. What it missed, and what we should try to integrate into the next constitution (on Mars, special economic zones, etc), is restraint against unchecked growth of regulation and government spending. I’ve been slowly collecting proposals for how that could work. Might do a post on it at some point.

Claire is a failed artist who worked in Taco Bell. She has been easily brainwashed to compensate for her failed life experiences which is clearly on display. Who does she thinks she is telling us what’s the right way to live - to govern? This RESUME falls way short! VOTE NO @claireforny VOTE YES @ReynosoBrooklyn SOCIALISM is a failed ideology. @NYCMayor @nycDSA @NYCCouncil

NY-7 is home to artists, young people making their way, and longtime residents & 77% are tenants Local electeds have championed transformational tenant legislation year after year. We need a leader like Claire who will be uncompromising for tenants. No money from big real estate

1. I went to Jewish school from kindergarten to 12th grade 2. I come from a deeply Zionist family 3. I’ve been to Israel on a number of occasions, including to places that border the West Bank. I’m an anti-Israel Jew. It’s a genocidal apartheid state. Sue me
Jonah Platt@JonahPlatt

To be an anti-Israel Jew, you must, by default, be uneducated about what Jews are, what Israel means to Jews, and the reality of life on the ground in Israel. Anyone of any background who is genuinely educated in those three areas cannot possibly be anti-Israel. Just calling a spade a spade.

Voting for Darializa Avila Chevalier today is equivalent to voting for KKK Grand Wizard David Duke 30+ years ago. A vote for Chevalier is a vote for bigotry, intolerance, and hatred of America. By her own admission, Darializa Avila Chevalier stands with the terrorists. In contrast, Adriano Espaillat stands with the people of New York and for the best values of our nation.

The NYT is finally catching up... If you're early in your career or still building, remote work is brutal: - You miss real training, feedback, and institutional knowledge - Productivity drops ~20% (MIT study) - No mentors. No company culture. - No bonding. No happy hours. - Fewer real work friends - Divorce rates and mental health issues spike - Fewer spontaneous opportunities (client meetings, drinks with the boss, hallway ideas) - Lower promotions and job security long-term

Imagine Putin started the war in Ukraine by blowing up a girls elementary school and killing 168 children and then stating that he doesn't care about it one way or another. This is not even the first such incident by a long shot.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

NYT: Now that you're approaching a new phase in this conflict in this Iran, can you now say whether you will hold anyone in your administration accountable for the strike on a school that killed more than 100 children? TRUMP: No. It's such a strange question to be asked. It's a long time ago. Mistakes are made. I would ask Pete Hegseth that question.

I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation linked to the strikes on oil depots in Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Gulf states, and beyond. This is a picture of Moscow now. Covered in thick black toxic clouds of smoke, raining oil on 14 million people with cancerous polluted air entering every lung. People breathing this. Animals breathing this. Trees breathing this. A humanitarian and environmental catastrophe. Bombing oil depots has serious environmental and humanitarian consequences. Hazardous "black rain" and "acidic rain" could pose serious health risks as toxic pollutants spread in the air, and contaminated the water—raise concerns of "wider regional pollution exposure", with the long-term effects of pollutants, affect respiratory health and contaminate water, that will affect people for years. Every bomb dropped on an oil depots is a time bomb for the people and the planet. This has moved beyond geopolitics. It's a crime against humanity.
