I’m glad to see my effort to name this week National Tribal Colleges and Universities Week pass the U.S. Senate! This week we recognize all the hard work our Montana students, teachers and staff at Tribal Universities and Colleges do to promote higher learning opportunities.

Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming students and faculty from the Montana Tribal Colleges to my office here in D.C. Montana is home to more tribal colleges than anywhere else in the country. These programs have been extremely successful, and I am proud to call myself a supporter of their work.

It’s a pleasure meeting with North Dakota’s tribal college students, presidents, and faculty during National Tribal Colleges and Universities Week! The students and their stories serve as testaments to the positive impact Indian higher education has on lives and communities.
