Hearing that Guidance Tamil Nadu, the nodal agency instrumental in bringing investments into the state is witnessing a series of high profile exits. According to sources, nearly 10 employees have resigned so far. This comes at a time when Andhra Pradesh is poaching key investments from here.

Why abandon Omandurar and choke Koyambedu? Omandurar is a purpose-built administrative complex with wide arterial roads and excellent connectivity via Anna Salai, specifically designed to house the Secretariat. 🔸2008: DMK begins construction of the new Omandurar Secretariat. 🔸2009: DMK expands the project, taking the total estimated cost to ₹1,092 crore. 🔸2010: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh inaugurates the new Secretariat. 🔸2011: AIADMK shifts the Secretariat back to Fort St. George and converts the ₹552 crore Omandurar complex into the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital. 🔸2021–2026: DMK invests ₹1,220+ crore in new super speciality hospitals and healthcare expansions across Chennai. 🏥 Build a new ₹500 crore multi-speciality hospital elsewhere in Chennai, relocate the Omandurar hospital, restore Omandurar as the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, and transform the 36-acre Koyambedu bus terminus into Chennai's premier Central Business District (CBD).

49 acres. Koyambedu is pretty much heart of the city these days, connected by not one but two metro lines (Green and Red) with Orange only 4 kms away. That's a crazy metro density. It has the elevated Maduravoyal port e-way running half a km away with an interchange access. Not just by Indian standards but even by global standards this is very good connectivity. 40 acres can yield a solid mixed use CBD. A truly visionary and bold govt will create a new vegetable and fruit market, which was opened in 1996 when even Anna Nagar was a distant suburb, Koyambedu was a peri urban area. It occupies 295 acres of prime space. A combined 340 acre space is the size of Canary wharf. With an FSI of 10, it will generate 150 mn sq feet of mixed use commercial and residential space. You can easily build 70-75 office towers (35-60 floors high), 40 residential towers (30-40 stories high), 4-5 hotels each 20-25 stories high (300-400 * 5 star rooms or 500-700 * 4 star rooms). This will at once create a mass transit oriented CBD that will develop over 10-15 years and constantly generate new office and residential space in the heart of the city. But no, we will get an ugly building that will add nothing of any value. TN truly is cursed!
