How does Britain actually fight a war? Who selects the targets? Where does the intel come from? Does the PM sit above it all or do they get involved in the detail of operations? Find out from those who were inside the room during the Libya conflict @polcurrency

You and David Cameron share much of the blame for the sorry state of Britain’s armed forces today. You cut the defence budget by a third. You delayed renewal by a decade. And the question posed in your tweet shows that you had no idea what you were doing. Worse still, the money you thought you were saving was a drop in the ocean compared to the billions the Conservatives Party was later forced to spend to offset Covid. Your political legacy is a country unable to deter or counter the threats it now faces. This is what you will be remembered for, as well as for almost losing Scotland, and for the Brexit vote, which has undoubtedly given us a worse deal than the one we had before, including making it more difficult and expensive to buy military hardware from our European neighbours.

Lifting the two child cap is yet more welfare, paid for by working people. A third of the beneficiaries are recent arrivals to the UK. Reform will defuse the benefits bomb bankrupting Britain. We’re for workers, not welfare.

@nowak_paul What more? Giving people employment discrimination rights before they’ve even applied for a job? Extending child benefit to people who have no kids, paying enhanced pensions to school leavers who aren’t working? Jeez…

Today millions will get sick pay for the first time, and from day one Paternity leave from day one Ending the two-child benefit cap will lift hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty. Union campaigning & a Labour government making a difference. Progress made. More needed.

Can you imagine being a European soldier right now and realizing your country would “do the math” to see if you were worth rescuing? It’s no wonder they need Americas men to protect them.

Our friends, the Brits, went from relinquishing their right to bear arms in 1997 to standing on the edge of the Islamist abyss today. Our Second Amendment is not about the right to go duck hunting, folks. It’s about keeping power in the hands of The People.

In the UK, a firework was thrown into the home of Robert Price, a white 76 year old man, his home caught fire and he burnt to death. The boys were of African descent aged between 18 and 16 and had been harassing him almost daily, his home and windows smashed in and boarded up. He stood no chance..

How many buying houses now have to stump up 16 - 18% mortgage interest, just like we had to... yes about 0.

@AlanWilkes16 And you got MiRAS and married man’s tax allowance and for a while home improvement costs were tax deductible from the mortgage interest plus house prices were pegged to what lenders could lend ie 3x1 + 1x other or 2.5x both borrowers, so prices stayed sensibly linked to earnings.

Now they’re outside the Israeli embassy laughably claiming to have blocked it on Shabbat during Passover when nobody is there. What’s not funny is them being allowed to call for the destruction of a nation. Vile.

Pro-Pals are out in London chanting “Muslim armies end your shame” with a banner calling for military action against Israel. How is this reasonable opinion? This is incitement of violence. @metpoliceuk

@k14ox Insurance companies are a farce! Their T&Cs make sure you never get paid. People must stop buying insurance, unless mandatory (I.e car insurance). Always go for the cheapest and avoid add-ons since you won’t get paid regardless.

it should be illegal for insurance companies to do this. how can you raise someone’s insurance for an accident that wasn’t their fault???? especially when the person isn’t even in the vehicle when the incident happened??
Richie Brave@RichieBrave

My car being hit by a fire engine whilst I was not in it has spiked my insurance by £300. Thank you @LondonFire 🥰❤️ (You guys do great work saving people though, I can’t even be mad at that 😩)

I love watching Europeans tie themselves in knots. It’s so damn easy. They scream about American “imperialism” while begging us to defend their borders, their energy, their entire continent. Then refuse to lift a finger when we ask for help securing the Strait of Hormuz.

When I married in 1981 we both worked & most of our salary went on paying the mortgage as the interest rate was 15% at the time. Everything we owned was 2nd hand & we never went out for meals as we couldn’t afford to. We rented our TV Went to the launderette every weekend as had no washing machine. Only had new clothes at Xmas & birthdays as presents. We went without until we could save enough to pay for something. It’s always been hard whether you are young or old. So those out there that think we had it easy we didn’t. Our governments are to blame, not the old.
