Made this interaction of Linear’s dithered logo for our latest release. It’s using canvas with a lot of tiny dots. There’s an invisible circle around the cursor. Any dot inside it gets pushed outward with a cubic falloff so it’s gentle on the edges, and strong at the center.

I spent the last 60 days working at Cursor. It's been one of the most thrilling phases of my professional life. There's a lot of mystique around the company. Over the last two months, some things matched my expectations; many did not. I wrote an essay for @joincolossus about things that have surprised me about the company and its culture so far. joincolossus.com/article/inside…

We recently opened @vclubpoker's new home in downtown Toronto. This has been a vision 2 years in the making with a lot of ups and downs along the way. The grand opening night was everything I dreamed of. 150 community members packed the room, cards flying, friendly banter and laughter everywhere. It made every dollar, stressful moment and sleepless night worth it. We're ushering in a new era of poker in Toronto with VClub - and it's still just the beginning. If you're in Toronto and looking for the friendliest club to play at, shoot me a DM. Would love to introduce you to VClub.

Elon Musk came up with a pretty incredible idea during the Q3 Earnings Call, that no one is really talking about. His words: “Actually, one of the things I thought, if we've got all these cars that maybe are bored, while they're sort of, if they are bored, we could actually have a giant distributed inference fleet and say, if they're not actively driving, let's just have a giant distributed inference fleet. At some point, if you've got tens of millions of cars in the fleet, or maybe at some point 100 million cars in the fleet, and let's say they had at that point, I don't know, a kilowatt of inference capability, of high-performance inference capability, that's 100 gigawatts of inference distributed with power and cooling taken, with cooling and power conversion taken care of. That seems like a pretty significant asset.” So basically, each car has ~1 kilowatt of high-performance AI inference capability, Tesla wouldn’t need to build giant data centers — the fleet is the data center. Tesla could turn their entire fleet into a giant distributed inference network, spread across the world, powered by the batteries and AI in the car already. Mind blown.

Small teams only work if you’re exceptional. We've chosen to keep teams at Linear really small and highly autonomous. That really focuses the company on clarity and ownership, reduces coordination overhead, and ensures when you work on something, you see the direct impact. Rather than feeling pressure to fill roles because we have a need, we've really focused on trying to find the best people we possibly can. Cultural dilution is much harder to undo than just the alternative, which is slower short-term progress.

One of my most defining moments happened when my keyboard broke during a concert. That moment kickstarted a decade-long journey—one that led me to engineering, design, and ultimately, design engineering. Here's the story 👇
