@BBCSport It was a very premature stoppage by the ref. Why was Usyk fighting Verhoeven in the first place?! Moses Itauma stops Usyk in 4 rounds. But Usyk should fight Kabayel next. That's the fight all boxing fans want

🔬 “AMR is no longer a silent pandemic in Africa.”
During the launch of the Advancing Regional Integrated Laboratory Capacity for AMR Control (ARILAC) Project, ASLM CEO, @MrNqobileNdlovu, underscored the urgent need for strategic investments in laboratory systems to address the growing burden of antimicrobial resistance across the continent.
Implemented under the leadership of @AfricaCDC and supported by the European Union through the Team Europe Initiative, the ARILAC Project brings together 8 African Union Member States to strengthen microbiology capacity, develop a skilled laboratory workforce, and enhance microbiology laboratory networks for improved surveillance and response.

The same happens in Uganda too. Some went into full time political offices but still hold onto the Professor title!

A PhD is the highest academic qualification you can ever get. There is nothing above it. It is earned from writing and defending a thesis that makes a novel contribution to an academic field. A holder can use it for life because it is not tied to any academic institution. It is a

@NewtonAllan6 Sorry about that ordeal. That game by the traffic officers is not new. When one protests they didn't run a red light, they say you have to get a cctv footage to dispute their testimony. The time it wd take the footage, nobody knows!
English

Traffic police is full of thieves masquerading in uniforms.
Someone intentionally creates a false case against you even when you clearly observed the traffic lights. They chase after you, force you to stop, then falsely accuse you of jumping the lights.
This has just happened to me at the Mulago - Kalerwe traffic lights. A traffic officer rode after me, stopped me, and accused me of not obeying the lights, yet I clearly did.
I refused to accept a crime I didn’t commit, but because he holds the power in his hands (the machine) he still issued me a UGX 200,000 ticket.
No wonder some of them can’t progress or build anything meaningful for themselves. Rubbish🚮

PRESS RELEASE
The Ophthalmology Society of Uganda has become aware of this video currently circulating on social media in which an individual claims that massaging the eyes with hot water ( better at boiling point) can cure cataracts, refractive errors and other eye diseases.
We write with the utmost urgency to inform the Ugandan public that this claim is medically false.
The individual in the video presents this practice as a remedy with no scientific evidence whatsoever.
We strongly advise against applying any unprescribed substances in the absence of guidance from a qualified ophthalmic health worker. Self-treatment of eye conditions based on social media advice is always dangerous.
We urge every Ugandan who has seen this video to seek care from a qualified ophthalmic health worker for any concerns about your vision or eye health

“The mandate of BoU is to promote price stability and a sound financial system. What is the impact of this Bill on price stability if it is passed the way it is? Because of the depreciation of the currency that is likely to occur as an unintended consequence of this Bill, we are likely to have a depreciated currency and the pass-through of imported items into domestic prices is going to raise prices significantly. So, our inflation is going to increase via the depreciation of the exchange rate. That means that we will need to either tighten monetary policy further if we are going to contain inflation, or we allow inflation to go beyond the 5% target if we don’t want to raise interest rates. That’s what we will have to grapple with. This inflation of 3% we have been enjoying is likely to be compromised through currency depreciation.” - Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026

Today, @MinofHealthUG launched the Malaria Elimination Strategic Plan (2025–2030), marking Uganda’s decisive shift from control to elimination. Malaria is not just a health issue; it is a development crisis. With bold, data-driven targets, zero malaria deaths, sharply reduced incidence, and districts moving to pre-elimination by 2030, the message is clear: the cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of ending malaria. Now is the moment for sustained leadership, smart investment, and collective action @KasondeMwinga
