Went to see Malory Towers tonight in Coventry - quite a gorgeous production but ‘Bill’, the only tomboy in the all girls school,has of course been trans’d So the many little girls in the audience are taught the stereotypical girls are girls,the gender non conforming ones are boys

I deleted an early post about this because Grok informed me that Maeve’s side won the debate. My fault for not checking further. Now Maeve’s mum (@lucymirandaward ) has given the actual figures (38 ayes, (Maeve’s side), 70 noes, 52 abstentions). So I’ll repeat it. That a speech this good - beautifully delivered, eloquent, coherent, full of passion, backed up with facts - lost the debate indicates just how committed (and I mean committed, not captured) universities are to gender ideology. And in that context it takes real bravery to stand up and tell them just how wrong they are. 70 people listening to this speech (and the other speakers on Maeve’s side) and voting against it is crazy. Hopefully, the abstentions hold out some hope. But because the ideology is so strongly held by university staff turning it around is going to be difficult.

My aim is never to create a ‘them vs us narrative’. BUT as I’ve always said. I WILL call out mistruths. Terrorism was rightly considered. And also quickly dismissed. Their complaint also referenced the correct spelling of the family name; and why his country of birth was named (preferred they use ‘he had a Portuguese passport’). The police are highly unlikely to have ‘leaked’ information Mr Calocane. We also had the press at our front door after your brother murdered my son. For us it was within hours, not days! We made no complaints. We were focusing on our grief and horror. Instead…. We’ve focused our complaints on those who failed, lied and covered up. It’s not about your race, your immigration status or your family pride or standing. It’s about the truth, what you did or didn’t know or do. And, more importantly, to expose failures; hold those to account whoever they may be; and get the system changed so that no more Valdo Calocane’s can be left untreated, unmanaged and out in our society. For the sake of the patient, the families and most importantly the public.

@AudreySuffolk Audrey, when Reform took over Notts County Council their first priority was flag banners and flag poles - budgeted at £75k but we don’t know actual spend. Second priority was reducing time for debate and questions in council meetings. It’s awful.

A second Union Flag has been raised outside of Essex County Council’s headquarters in Chelmsford, following control of the authority transferring to Reform UK after last week’s elections. The move brings Essex County Council in line with Reform UK national policy, which only permits the Union, national, county or armed forces flags to fly at council buildings under its control. “Today we have raised a second Union Flag at County Hall in Chelmsford. It was a proud moment to see it flying high, representing all of the nations that make up our wonderful United Kingdom.” Cllr Peter Harris, Leader of the Council’s Reform UK group and County Council Leader Elect. The flag of Ukraine that had previously flown since 2022 has been replaced, and following discussions with the Ukrainian community in the county, will find a new home. Councillor Harris said: “The replacement of the Ukraine flag does not diminish the support and generosity that Essex residents have shown the people of Ukraine since 2022 and I know this will continue.”
