@GaltMD @SandyofCthulhu It's usually great. It's not fine dining, obviously, but their lunch specials are really good. You can get a steak meal for the price of fast food.

@SandyofCthulhu I would not expect decent food at a place such as Texas Roadhouse in the first place though I admit I’ve never eaten at one. I would be very pleasantly surprised if the steak there is at all palatable.

I went to Texas Roadhouse and ordered a steak medium rare. The nice waitress took her time to carefully explain what a "medium rare" steak looked like. I already knew, of course - I've been eating steak for 65 years - but I was polite and listened. She made sure I knew that a medium rare steak was red in the middle, not pink. I guess she gets customers who don't have a clue. Anyway the steak came out and it was absolutely well-done. Not a trace of red or even pink. I cut it in half and showed it to the waitress, and she was appalled. I didn't have her take it back - my wife already had her meal and we had places to go after dinner so why delay. So I ate my damn well-done steak, and I even tipped the waitress (I assume it was not her fault). But I haven't returned to Texas Roadhouse since.
Sadie@Sadie_NC

He sent his steak back FIVE times, each time they brought him a new steak. Don't be like this person!

@SandyofCthulhu I order medium rare steak at Texas Roadhouse all the time with zero issues. You just got unlucky that day or your location just sucks.

@asymmetricinfo My dad is 6'3 and has lewey body dementia, so I empathize. He's just a few weeks away from finally getting into a really nice care facility near me and just landed himself back in the hospital one more time this week.

I got this from a ton of people who had no idea what would have been involved in caring for my 6’7 father, who had lost mobility, in a narrow row home with an open concept first floor. No privacy, no place to put the full time live-in help required, $300k+ a year for the help
Sarah@GlobeFarrah

Every time I see the "you're a terrible person if you put your parents in the nursing home" discourse I crash out bc it's one of those things that you literally don't know wtf you're talking about unless you've been in that position yourself.

@ThatRosaryGirl I tried one like that for a single vacation and it fucked up my wrist so bad and my toddler napped so poorly in it that I immediately donated it upon my return home. Never again.

@happygreymom The minu is honestly my favorite of all of them. The only downside is the smaller storage space so I can't use it for big shopping trips like I can with the Vista. It's basically perfect otherwise.

@_154831 @MarsRisingWork @JennyPop_person Because most latch issues don't require surgery and someone selling you a procedure to fix it might be biased and overdiagnose your kid. Most last issues just need a different breastfeeding position or something simple like that.

@colonizer_69 @SlumRNA_Dog Yes, I didn't buy a separate bassinet. I just used a bedside stand and that's what they used every night. My current newborn is using it right now.

@Romy_Holland My mom adopted my older half siblings when she married my dad and you would never be able to tell which one of us 4 kids she birthed herself. Saying you have to give birth to a child to love them is BS. Plenty of shitty parents don't care for the kids they birth.

it’s so weird when ppl claim gay dads or moms who use surrogates etc can’t feel the right type or degree of love for their babies. every time i spend any amount of time with my friends’ babies i become incredibly enamored. i’d adopt the hell out of those babies. babies are loveable af, what are you all on about?

@1000HolyPlaces @clharrington024 It should be implemented earlier, not in highschool. The vast majority of high schoolers aren't going to casually become fluent but an early grade schooler could.

@clharrington024 This is where I am going to disagree with you. Learning languages IS, in fact, very good for the brain. It has numerous benefits. Now, I do not think any SPECIFIC language should necessarily be required, but language learning is an excellent tool for brain development.

Absolutely!!! Why are we STILL requiring students to take foreign language in high school when there is virtually no benefit. Do high schoolers become fluent in the foreign language? No. Does it have a high ROI on cognitive development and brain health? Also no. Students’ brains would benefit more from 60 minutes of aerobic exercise than from sitting in a foreign language class. Also, we all have translators in our pockets. This is one of the many requirements in education whose time has expired. Public ed must stop wasting students’ time.
Brilyn Hollyhand@BrilynHollyhand

American high schools are wrong for requiring American students to learn Spanish in order to earn advanced diplomas, while not giving those same students the option to take practical classes like electrical or wood shop.

@bizziemag @leah_hat Same 😭. I've used the bassinet attachment for both my babies and never needed to buy a separate one. I just stick it on the bedside stand at night. I'm very attached to it at this point.

@Momsplaining101 @AllieB_Hamilton Same. If you're peeking over my table and see a nip, that's on you. I have a cover in case it's super crowded or I'm getting bad vibes, but otherwise I just put he on my lap and slip her a boob. She doesn't like the cover and it just makes it more difficult.

@AllieB_Hamilton I don’t cover, I just wear loose fitting shirts. In the off chance someone does see something, it’s not much and they’d have to be staring at me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yall. It’s entirely possible to breastfeed your baby/toddler and also still have some basic decency and respect for others.

@leah_hat They don’t have to be! We got an amazing deal on our vista on Facebook marketplace, I spent a good long while looking for one. It wasn’t exactly cheap but a fraction of retail, works great!

@minoremonet @leah_hat It's worth it. Mine is a decade old and on at least its third kid (I'm the second owner, so I don't know for sure) and it's still absolutely fantastic. And you can buy replacement parts like new wheels and stuff from the manufacturer.
