How is a father supposed to react in the face of that? He didn't know that he was being lied to by the professionals, they exploited his love for his daughter, by promising they'd have to dig a grave for her if they didn't comply with gender affirming care. Impossible informed consent is certainly one problem in this area. What makes this problem especially concerning, however, is the presence of several related problems: the diagnosis is often subjective (and frequently “child-led”), the natural course of the condition is largely unknown, the treatment can be invasive and irreversible, and the claimed benefits are not supported by evidence. Taken together, this is a recipe for disaster. While obtaining informed consent can be challenging across many areas of paediatrics, this case is exceptional. It is therefore important to scrutinize how informed consent is approached here, to avoid unconscionable situations where responsibility is shifted onto children and their families (“this is what you wanted; we did this to help you”) rather than doctors owning their mistakes.

I am Patrick, former candidate for governor... But, let me tell you something about me that is hard to even fathom. My mom came from a Midwest family on the poor side of the tracks. She literally grew up having dirt floors and an outhouse. By the time she was 15, she'd gotten married, and had her first child, my eldest biological sister. Over the next few years, she gave birth to my 3 brothers. My brother next to me is 14 years older than I am. My stepfather, a really nasty man, and my mother were dating. I had no idea that he wasn't my biological sperm donor. They broke up, my mother got pregnant by my biological father. My stepfather came back into her life and threatened biological father, and the rest of the family to keep the secret that I was literally a bastard child. My mother, who was pregnant with me, wanted a baby girl and a second chance. After I was born, my mother started dressing me as a baby girl. My biological father thought I was a girl, tried to find me, but had nothing to go on. My sister, who was 19-20 years old at the time would come and rescue me from my mother and dress me as a boy. My own family kept that secret from me, but they were under threat from my stepfather. As I grew up, my stepfather was violent... I saw him hit my mother when I was 7. He used a black leather belt on me until I got older where he used his fists on me. He knocked me out and my head bounced off a concrete floor. Another time, he'd knocked me down, places his knee on my chest and best the hell out of me. I later learned that he was a pedophile and I was the only person out of my entire family to confront him. He'd harmed his sister, my 2 step-sistets and 2 of my nieces. I almost called the police on him because he kept poking me with his cane at 81 years old. The only thing that stopped me was the fact that he wasn't worth going to jail for. He'd inappropriately touched me, and I hated it, and I nearly kicked him on his junk for it, but I was scared of him. My own family, eldest nephew who is 2.5 years older than me, was also very sick... Sexually assaulting his sister's, bullying and beating me. I was bullied and beaten through school. Physically assaulted a dozen times at my first duty station by those I worked with. My ex who held a knife to me and attempted to run me over that was emotionally, mentally, and physically abusive. That's just one aspect of my life. All this trauma from an early age led me down a very bad path of attempting to escape being a man. Then when we add in 17 times in my life that I shouldn't even be here today? Volcanic eruption (Pinatubo). Typhoon (during Pinatubo aftermath). Dysentery. Combined Philippines event (volcano + typhoon + dysentery). Inside a tornado (2015 Oklahoma I-44 event, truck damaged but upright). Severe fall. C. difficile infection. Multiple assaults (military, off-base, abusive ex). Nearly being run over by abusive ex. Nearly a half dozen times she held a knife against you. Self-harm thoughts / suicidal ideation (dark place in 2023–2024). Motor vehicle accident. Fires. Tornado (separate incident). Despair (profound emotional lows). Military incident (additional unspecified or hazing-related). So, when you accuse me of being something I'm not, nor ever been, I don't play the victim. I am someone who has survived the unimaginable. I am someone who didn't turn out like his abusers. I am a child of the one true God whom I gave my life to I'm the middle of a pasture and healed from the trauma that permeated my life. I don't owe anyone anything, I owe it all to God. I don't need your permission, acceptance, approval, validation, or anything from anyone. I've gone through most of my life without anyone to help me and lived through things that would break you. And if it weren't for God intervening in my life, I know I wouldn't be here today. /1

"Sex Positive Approaches to Working with MAP's." From a forthcoming conference of clinicians who work with and study "minor attracted people." We do want researchers studying ways to prevent pedophiles from offending. But I don't think we want those people "celebrating sexual and gender diverse people, and especially MAPs." "Celebration" is the wrong framework for interacting with pedophiles. Same goes for "sex positivity."

Indigenous people are being sterilized today, especially kids in state care who are being transitioned at a rate much higher than the general population. Sterilized with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. Do any of our politicians virtue-signalling about ‘reconciliation’ care about these kids? No they don’t. These same politicians are virtue-signalling about ‘protecting trans kids’ as they fund the sterilization of them. @duchess_elle suffered this harm, and is thankfully blowing the whistle on it.
