Lots of people assume the nutty Amnesty UK report was produced by a young intern. In fact it was written by Chiara Capraro, Gender Justice Programme Director at Amnesty International UK. She has been expressing these deranged views in writing and interviews for some time. But this latest “report”/“briefing” is so outrageous that it has for the first time provoked widespread condemnation and disgust.

Chiara Capraro has now locked down her account on X and seems to have disappeared from LinkedIn. She has been writing defamatory rubbish for Amnesty UK for ages but she finally crossed a line and can’t retreat from here.

Human rights depend on truth. Today Genspect sent a formal legal letter to Amnesty International UK challenging its false allegations that we promote "conversion practices" and are part of an "anti-rights" movement. We have requested the withdrawal of these claims and a full explanation of the evidence relied upon.

2/ Amnesty has absolutely no right to dictate what political opinions gay men may or may not hold on gender ideology. It has no right to "evidence launder" a list of dissent lesbian and gay groups as targets for opprobrium or public condemnation.

For years we were told that trans rights and women’s rights could not in any way be in conflict. Amnesty's smearing of Beira's Place makes very clear that women's rights just don't count.

@ForWomenScot You don't understand rights. Rights are universal. You can't have age-based rights, or race-based rights, or sex-based rights. 'Sex-based rights' is just a term of art used by transphobes to create a justification for trying to push transwomen out of women's spaces.

Ann Widdecombe has possibly been murdered, and @SkyNews thinks it’s appropriate to have a man discussing whether she was a virgin. Why would whether a woman had ever had penetrative sex be relevant to her possible murder? He then went on to speculate, on mainstream media, that it was a robbery gone wrong rather than politically motivated. That may ultimately prove to be the case, but speculation about motive before the facts are established has no place in responsible news coverage. The first instinct when discussing a woman who may have been murdered should never be to reduce her to her sexual history. Ann Widdecombe deserved better. Every woman deserves better.
