Can I vent about the term "Crisis Pregnancy Center"? I hate it. I've worked for these orgs and helped to raise hundreds of thousands for non-profits related to providing health, childcare, and adoption services for women during unplanned pregnancies.
Everything they do is good. I'm not critical of the services or the intent behind them. I just think it points to a cultural framing that should be discussed.
The whole marketing approach (from someone who did this professionally) is to put on kid gloves and make women feel as comfortable and cared for as possible in order to convince them to not obtain an abortion.
Like this is noble, but is that really the social arrangement here? Be as gentle as possible and provide everything a woman needs because she was being careless with her body and virtue otherwise she will MURDER HER OWN BABY?! Make it make sense to me.

Not much in Dispensational Evangelicalism is more outrageously misguided than celebrating the Passover Seder. God's destruction of the Temple was his benevolent loving kindness to the Jewish people, to destroy their capacity to observe the Old Covenant religion that had been superseded and replaced by the New Covenant in Christ's blood. It was God's way of getting the most stubborn people on the planet to take a hint and move along.
But alas, that would require embracing the Messiah they rejected, because they wanted a Zionist Messiah, who would restore the earthly kingdom they wanted. They wanted a warlord, not a Savior. And so, in the centuries after the temple's destruction, they manufactured an all new religion, perverting the rites of the old and inventing creative solutions to the rites of Moses being impossible without the Temple. And from these man-made inventions, we get the 15-part Seder which is nothing like the Passover that God required under the Old Law.
At the very heart of the Seder is its central doctrine; the rejection of Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God. Its entire existence is owed to that rejection of Christ. And its individual parts serve the purpose of blaspheming the One God sent to redeem them. The Seder is a bastardized, illegitimate imitation of the Passover. The so-called "Christian Seder" is an imitation OF an imitation. That's the stupid part.
There is already a means for Christians to remember the Passover, and it's by celebrating the Messiah who is our Passover Lamb, the One whose blood was shed for us, so that if it covers us, death will pass-over us, that one day we will make it to the heavenly Zion, our Promised Land, the abode of God.
Neo-Judaizers and Dispensational Zionists believe there's some special magic in these Jewish rites, but it's little more than devil worship with a yarmulke, striking at the heart of the Christian faith. And this though - that by imitating or even worshipping alongside Jews there's some special juju is actually quite old. One of the Church Fathers, Chrysostom, had to deal with the influence of the Judaizers in Antioch.
He said, "Did the Jews ever observe our pre-Paschal fast (IE Lent)? Did they ever join us in keeping the feast of the martyrs? They do not run to the truth, but you rush to transgression..."If any of you shall go to the spectacle of the Trumpets, or rush off to the synagogue, or take part in fasting, or share in the Sabbath, or observe any other Jewish ritual great or small, I call heaven and earth as my witnesses that I am guiltless of the blood of all of you."
Chrysostom went on, "To go to the synagogue is a greater crime than going to the theater. What goes on in the theater is, to be sure, sinful; what goes on in the synagogue is godlessness..When God forsakes a people, what hope of salvation is left? When God forsakes a place, that place becomes the dwelling of demons...Certainly, it is the time for me to show that demons dwell in the synagogue, not only in the place itself but also in the souls of the Jews."
Writing from the perspective of Christ, he wrote to the Christians interloping with Jews on their feast days, "You made common cause with those who crucified me. You were obstinate toward me and started up again the festivals to which I had put an end..If, then, the Jews fail to know the Father, if they crucified the Son, if they thrust off the help of the Spirit, who should not make bold to declare plainly that the synagogue is a dwelling of demons?"
Christian Zionism presents a return of the ancient heresy of the Judaizers, which is much wider than simply demanding circumcision or dietary restrictions. Sometimes, Judaizing doesn't require that at all. The heart of the Judaizing heresy is the belief that Jews retain a special status with God even in their unbelief, and that they have obtained Covenant blessings and promises without faith in Jesus. That's the heart of the heresy. And it's that very notion that leads evangelicals in the year 2026 to embrace feasts that exist to reject Christ as Lord.

A clear-headed analysis of the problems in the mainline is necessary for any kind of action moving forward. Again, as @ryanburge has shown, the PCA is going to face a massive die off in the next few decades and is going to need both people and resources.
I don't think Reformed Presbyterianism survives this century unless NAPARC merges its member churches institutionally and there's some kind of integration of PCUSA churches that have been fighting (unsuccessfully) to maintain some semblance of orthodoxy in the denomination. NAPARC has the members and the mission. PCUSA has the money and, to a degree, institutional leverage.
Disclaimer: I'm not suggesting NAPARC abandon doctrinal orthodoxy one bit to integrate PCUSA. I'm saying I think there needs to be a serious discussion about whether whole denominations can survive the passing of the boomer generation that have basically 0 substantial disagreements between themselves, URC, and OPC.

Virginity should not be the #1 factor Christians look for when considering who to marry. Godliness and being attracted to them is.
Virginity matters, and it's a blessing from God. It's not wrong to desire someone who is a virgin. And past sexual sin regularly carries present-day consequences.
But I fear we've placed virginity on such a high pedestal that it's become an idol for many.
The Bible doesn't say that someone "is free to be married to anyone [they want] — only if they're a virgin." It says that someone "is free to be married to anyone [they want] — only in the Lord (aka, only if they're a Christian)" (1 Cor. 7:39).
In other words, what matters above all else is that your spouse is a believer, virgin or not.
Again, while desiring to marry a virgin isn't a bad thing, it becomes a bad thing if it causes you to miss out on marrying the person who truly matters: the man or woman who's born-again, passionate about Jesus, excellent in the God-given characteristics of a godly wife or husband, and physically attractive to you.
And a mature Christian should desire those things in a potential spouse above all else, regardless of the past sins the person may have gone through (though they should certainly weigh out that aspect as well in this decision, since it does matter).

Most people think evangelicalism is conservative but, in fact, large swathes of it are radically anti-traditionalist and, in their way, liberal.
Many evangelicals see traditional social virtues like modesty, propriety and prudence as hindrances to the practice and proclamation of the gospel and therefore congratulate themselves on violating these norms if, in their minds, doing so "brings glory to God".
That's exactly what's happening here. A man and his wife throw sensitive personal information into the social media gutter without thinking for a moment about dignity or social appropriateness and then, when people object, claim that people who value the social virtues they've discarded care less about God.

But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" I don’t really understand the people shaming this guy for sharing his and his wife’s testimony, provided she was OK with him sharing. He wasn’t specific, just shared how the Lord redeemed her and what a godly wife and mom she is today.

I’ve known Michael for many years. I don’t recall when we first met in person, but we became friends over three years ago. For much of that time, he lived near me. We’ve been to each other's houses. Our families have had dinner together, and our kids have played together. On a few occasions, he volunteered to help me with projects on the property: building a deck, moving felled trees, and other things. His wife is kind. He has good kids. Michael was repeatedly kind to me. I’ve spent more time with him than 99% of his critics, though I haven’t seen him much in the last year or so.
I once said that Michael is a “friend” and “a good man”—-something used against me for nearly a year now. No critic has asked what I meant by it, and my default response is to ignore such people. I was referring to his kindness and generosity to me, and to his concern for my spiritual well-being, which surpassed that of many people in my life.
Mindful of this history, and out of loyalty to a friend, I did not denounce or openly distance myself from Michael as he began to embrace positions that I reject. This came at great personal cost, not only for me but especially for my family. Online agitators and tale-bearers, most of whom are incapable of argument, insinuated that Michael and I are “fellow Nazis,” despite my numerous articles, videos, and books contradicting that claim. I do not expect any session or presbytery to correct these sinful accusations (WLC 144), despite several coming from those vowed to maintain the “peace of the church.”
Michael knows the cost of being associated with him. He knows that anything he says places burdens upon others. I chose to endure them. An elderly man at my previous church—known and well respected in both the OPC and the PCA—encouraged me to remain friends with Michael for his sake, and I did.
But the post below is a turning point for me. It represents a complete disregard for those who bear the costs of any degree of association. When consideration of others goes repeatedly unreciprocated, there comes a breaking point. It begins to look like exploitation. Obviously, “Christian prince” is a term I retrieved from the Protestant tradition, and it immediately recalls my work. Michael had to know that I, yet again, would be dragged into accusations of Naziism, even from those of decent will. He chose words (when there are alternatives) that instantly recall “Stephen Wolfe.” It is an act of betrayal. He has not considered how his actions affect others. He could have easily added, “I know that Stephen Wolfe does not agree with me.” But he did not.
As I’ve said for years now, I have no interest in retrieving Naziism, nor do I want a “Protestant Hitler.” Michael knows this, as I’ve said to him (among others) that revising 1930s German history is unnecessary to critique the “post-war consensus”. I am right-wing, but I am an American. By today’s standards, American history is right-wing, and it contains all the resources for recovering a manly, moral liberty and a Christian society. Anglo-Protestantism, despite its faults, is still the core tradition of America. Our fight is to recover it.
I have a high tolerance for differing opinions. I do not shy away from references to Marx, Nietzsche, Hegel, Heidegger, or “critical theory.” Viewing everything with the good/evil binary, or relying on a set of scary words to categorize intellectual history and various individuals, is unserious. I even use Marx in my MA philosophy thesis. But I would not say that we need a “Protestant Marx” or a “Protestant Heidegger”. We need a George Washington.
Given Michael’s behavior—his disregard for my position and the effects of his actions—I can no longer consider him a friend. But I will not take on a mission to destroy him. I will not toss epithets at him or make quips for spectacle. I simply cannot continue in what I consider an exploitive relationship. I pray that Michael and his lovely family would live well in godliness.
