Comedian Nikita Miller was nearly killed by a migrant who attacked him inside Bremen Central Station. The migrant was released on the same night as the stabbing. According to Miller, the court stated that the migrant “no longer poses any danger.” The charge was also reduced to bodily harm instead of attempted murder, which Miller said was because the court argued that the migrant stopped the assault before killing him. However, Miller told the court that he only survived the random attack because he fought back, and that the migrant only stopped because the blade broke off. During the attack, Miller suffered five serious stab wounds, including a 15cm wound to his head. He later told the German news outlet Express that the suspect was granted German citizenship despite the attack. The comedian has since moved to Norway, saying that if anything were to happen to his wife or family, he would not want to deal with the German criminal justice system again. “I won’t survive it a second time,” he said.

Why is Alan Shatter, the ex justice minister no less, allowed to issue what appears to be weekly SLAAP threats to people and organisations with impunity? This practice is illegal in this country, in my honest opinion, after researching the issue. Shatter is clearly using social media to revel in the fear and submission of his targets for political purposes and to the detriment of public participation. Use of legal threats to cultivate public apologies is illegal. Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (“SLAPPs”) “A significant proposal contained in the Draft General Scheme is the potential introduction of a new section into the 2009 Act to address SLAPPs, the use of strategic and abusive litigation by powerful plaintiffs to deter public discussion. Under the proposal, defendants would be able to apply to a court for early dismissal of an action, or, after the full hearing for a dismissal and/or declaration that the proceedings constituted a SLAPP. The Draft General Scheme provides that proceedings may be considered by a court to constitute a SLAPP if they have certain “features of concern” such as: “(a) the making of claims of a disproportionate, excessive or unreasonable nature; (b) intimidation, harassment or threats made by the plaintiff or his or her representatives against the defendant or associated parties, including prior to the institution of the proceedings; (c) the existence of multiple proceedings initiated by the plaintiff or associated parties, against the defendant or associated parties, in relation to similar matters; (d) the conduct of the litigation by the plaintiff in a manner which is disproportionate, excessive or unreasonable, including (but not limited to) the use of aggressive, unreasonably frequent, or intrusive pre-action communication...” If proceedings are found to constitute a SLAPP, a plaintiff may be liable to bear the defendant’s costs in full. Sadly had to say goodbye to our ‘eldest’ moggy today - who I got from the man across the road back in the days when I had an iPod 😢 He was the last in the litter and my neighbour was about to take him to the RSPCA when I said: “I’ll have him.” I bought the guy a box of Stella in return. Turns out he was actually some kind of long-haired half-pedigree. In his later years he struggled to groom himself and started needing extreme £300 haircuts (see pic). He almost made it to 17 - and honestly, I thought he still had more lives in him. But today we had to make the hard decision to let him go. 😭

Nikita Miller expressed disbelief that the migrant who nearly killed him received German citizenship. Not only that, but he was released on the same night of the stabbing by the judge. "Nothing has been done so far. The perpetrator was released the same night with the statement: 'He no longer poses any danger.'" Miller told the court that he only survived because he successfully fought back during the random attack. However, during the 20 second fight, Miller suffered 5 serious stab wounds, including a head stab wound that was 15 cm (6 inches) long and required 12 stitches. The justice system argued that since the migrant did not kill Miller, he could not be charged with attempted murder and had his charge dropped to bodily harm. The most incredible aspect of the case may be that Miller told German news outlet Express that the suspect was granted German citizenship despite the stabbing attack. The suspect's nationality has never been released. Since the incident, Miller has moved from Cologne to Norway, citing safety concerns in Germany and his struggle with the justice system. He psychologically dealt with the knife attack through therapy, but could not stand the thought of something happening to his family. "I thought, if something happens to my wife or my family and I have to struggle with this justice system again, I won’t survive it a second time. And then I said, 'We have to move.'"
