@pixeltao This is still one of the most important games from my childhood. Personally, I like it more than the console version 😉 Appreciate your contribution to that!

@HL_Alyx_NoVR Same boat. I don’t think they expected it to be popular, which Im not sure why. I don’t think it was mass scalping it appears to have been low inventory.

Well I didn’t get lucky. Payment kept breaking then sold out. Valve can’t launch a controller with no RAM and have even an hour of stock? Products with that little stock shouldn’t be on the market Doesn’t bode well for the rest of the hardware

I'll never forget when we got Red Ring of death. My brother and I got a 360 for Christmas. Played for a week of school vacation and right at the tail end of vacation, we got the red ring. My whiny preteen ass actually cried 😅 It was even more annoying because it was used 360 that allegedly had been repaired because of the red ring. It was a plague.

One thing I will say about the PS community is how we’re trying to hold them accountable for it. I’ve seeing dozens of post from people in the community condemning it. You dam well know if the other big 2 did this every creator in their sphere would be doing mental gymnastics to defend it or selectively choosing not to talk about.

I know it's not exactly the same, but this is what we should try not to forget. This was Sony at the start of the PS4 generation & how they built the momentum that got them to where they are today with the PS5. All because of the backlash Xbox got over DRM & physical games.

@NikTek As someone who has two ps5 controllers w/ stick shift I think the steam controller is fine priced at 99$. The stick drift resistance immediately makes it worth the price. My only question is do we have details on the warranty that comes with it? Curious about it

> DualSense Edge costs $199 and comes with potentiometer-based analog sticks that are prone to stick drift (an analog module alone costs $19 when its time to replace them) > Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 is on sale and currently costs $157. It comes with the same type of analog sticks The Steam Controller comes with haptic dual trackpads and drift-resistant TMR magnetic joysticks, yet some people seem to call Steam crazy for pricing it at $99. I never expected this controller to cost anywhere near in the range of $60 to $70. Although $100 isn’t cheap, what you’re getting here is a controller that is going to last much longer than any of these other ones.

@RinoTheBouncer $699. For 60fps I can’t justify much more than that. If it had 120fps I’d bump that up $850.

I totally agree gaming accessibility is important and is the preferred choice. The more games people can experience the better. But unfortunately I think they are necessarily evil. The only reason it makes sense for the big 3 to invest so heavily into studios/games is that it would drive more hardware sales and get people into their ecosystem. As much I’d love exclusivity to end I think it would come with even more mass layoffs and studio closures. And we would loose so much good IP.

PlayStation has exclusives for their console. Nintendo has exclusives for their console. Xbox stopped doing exclusives for their console. Should Xbox reverse course and bring back exclusives for their console?

Dude Im so sorry for your awful replies 😭 You are 100% right. The only time I’d argue a Day 1 game makes sense is if its a completely undiscovered indie who’s game would actually benefit from exposure of game pass and wouldn’t have sold copies on the first place. GamePass streaming royalties pay such an significantly lower amount to devs vs buying the game. We saw the same thing happen in the music industry and what it did to artists. We should want to avoid the same mistake.

Its the screen you’re watching it on. Go buy an old box tv and hook up an old console on it. It won’t be as noticeable. I’ve recently been replaying Shadow of The Colossus on ps2 (crt tv) and haven’t even noticed. Yet I put any ps5 game on quality mode and feel like Ima pass out 😭

Seriously though why does this happen? Did something in screens change or did we just get too used to 60FPS+ that 30fps looks so laggy now?

Huh? PS5 has had the least amount of first-party IP than of any previous generation...almost the least in all modern gaming generations. Actually, the half-glass full perspective on that is I've played every single 1st party game and have no PlayStation backlog lmao They only drop maybe 1 game a year.

Ya strangely I think you’re right. I will say I still think I like Skyrim’s writing more than CD. But ya Skyrim’s biggest strength was immersion and its open world design. Same goes for this game. For me Crimson Desert feels more like Breath of the Wild/TotK if Nintendo locked in.

I think the best way to describe Crimson Desert is that its a modern Skyrim Skyrim’s flaws are a weak story and bad character writing, but it also has one of the best, most immersive open worlds ever with what feels like infinite content, and that is exactly Crimson Desert imo!

@GameOverThirty We should normalize allowing former employees to criticize their employers/companies. And they should do it loudly. Often times they’re the people who can actually get through to leadership. I hope Bethesda took his feedback seriously. Good for him for speaking up!

I'll be honest, I'm not sure Pete Hines was all that great, or terrible, for Bethesda. He did what he did and then exited after the acquisition. Hell, before the acquisitions, Sony kept buying up Bethesda exclusivity. Hines was part of all that. But, I can tell you what I wouldn't do. I wouldn't criticize my former employer, in public, for **operational** disagreements. Sort of surprising as well, considering he's been in the industry for significant period of time. Burning bridges. The standard procedure in the 2020s.
