Love this 🧠🔥
Be the athlete who loves the journey to the wins, not just the destination
• Choose a route that keeps you focused along the way. Without a focused system in place you lose focus & purpose quickly
Self-Toss instead of tee work for hitters who need development of;
• Controlling their load
• Find barrel no matter where it’s tossed
• Short, explosive speed
How we define success is a source of happiness we control.
105 studies, 70k ppl globally: valuing extrinsic over intrinsic goals predicts lower well-being.
Seeking fame, money, or beauty is a bottomless pit. Pursuing growth, kindness, trust, and health is a path to flourishing.
THINGS I LEARNED AT ALABAMA @AlabamaSB
You coach the PERSON first and the athlete second!!
Daily/weekly check ins with your athletes are a must!
Learn about your athletes, learn the way they communicate and really build that relationship.

"The most powerful means of accountability is horizontal accountability. Accountability that takes place among the group. I need to play a certain way, because if I don't I am going to let my teammate down."
Every teammate has the ability to lead by encouraging accountability.
Stork Turns are one of the corrective exercises we like to program for athletes who have difficulty with the Pelvic Rotation Test (unable to move the pelvis independently of the torso).
Easy to incorporate in an athlete’s warm up or in downtime during practice or training.
Basic Tee Drill package. Time tested drills that work. Tees are a good way to “find your swing”before hitting moving baseballs. Meaning, sync up your body to become efficient before adding the tracking skills of the eyes. Typically 5 to 10 minutes max. Quality over quantity.
A couple of drills I like running. Differentiate footwork from A and C runners. Read hops **especially short hops correctly** and the Umbrella Drill. Get them moving but be productive in common plays. #baseball#infield#infielddrills@ValleBaseball
Work to turn a weakness into a strength. Young bucks can pick it. 💎💎💎
⚾️The backhand for a lot of young kids continues to be an issue. Be comfortable in your 1 hand lanes. #BaseBall#softball#infield#infielder#infielddrills and oh @ValleBaseball is the move ‼️
The neural, endocrine, immune & psychological effects of gratitude are robust & many. Contrary to popular belief, however, the vast majority of research shows that *receiving or observing* (rather than giving) gratitude is what induces these positive effects. #science
Early Extension can cause hitters to lose their posture and lack sufficient torso side bend at contact.
We refer to this as “losing posture” during the swing.
The Hook 'Em Drill is one of our favorites.
We use it to work on:
1️⃣ Even coil of the pelvis and torso
2️⃣ Efficient timing of hip-shoulder separation
3️⃣ Blending the linear and rotational components of the swing
Step Backs are a great drill for teaching hitters how to load into their back hip and coil the pelvis and torso evenly during the load phase of the swing.
