@DoctorLemma A few years after this I was watching a bbc documentary that was using some library footage of Richmond Park from the 50s. Some wag in the studio had put the ‘feeenton! Fenton!’ In the background. Made me chuckle.

In 2011, a quiet walk in London’s Richmond Park turned into internet history when a black Labrador named Fenton spotted a massive herd of red deer. The dog took off, chasing the animals across a road and causing a stampede that stopped traffic. His owner was filmed running helplessly far behind him. Interestingly, the dog had previously been given up by the charity Guide Dogs for the Blind because he was deemed "unsuitable" for service.

Hi Charlotte One of the more tedious parts of uniformed policing is the amount of time you wait around for other police. I won't bore you with the list, but there are a huge number of crimes and/or potential crimes (sudden unexplained death for example) where after attending and clearing, the uniformed officers role is to back out and wait for detectives, forensics, doctors you get the idea. In that case, what do you do? I used to play speed chess on my phone. You'd probably tweet. It doesn't mean they're not doing their job, it means they're doing the most boring part of their job (bar paperwork). Holding police to account when you know they've cocked up is a really important role. Mocking them for likes because you don't understand their job - that's a bit, well unpatriotic.
