One of the biggest issues with modern analysis is they look at things as binary. They see players and put them in a box and say “they can’t do this”. Hold on. Says who? How do you know? Footballers are far more capable than people give them credit for. One of the biggest issues is football can be inherently lazy and just accept players are what they show at that time, and lack of coaching which links in with the first point. Case in point, used the example of Hojbjerg being this player under De Zerbi. I’m pretty sure 99.99% of people analysing Hojbjerg before De Zerbi would say “he’s not that kind of player, he can’t do it”. Except, he could. How do we know Bergvall can’t do this? How do we know this isn’t a skillset that he’s actually always had, it just needs unlocking. We need to stop putting footballers in boxes. Remove the word “can’t”. It is very rare that is locked in like people say.
