@Curious_Kanuck

I like birch, poplar and maple bark, dislike wolves and bears, but only because they try to bite me - it's like go eat some mice or something, gosh!

@TheReclamare @timthielmann A bit tangential but my point here was that the first half of the twentieth century was rough times for Canadian youth of all ethnicities, the government did their best under the circumstances and was made up of people with nobility of mind, for the most part

My grandad was orphaned at 8 and got arrested riding the rails at 15 in ''38 trying to go to another town to find work. They put them up in the jail for the night with a good dinner and then arranged for him to go out to the Depression era Work Camp even though he was too young. It all worked out great, he landed on Juno Beach and had six kids.

@timthielmann I’m really amazed that they went to this level of commitment to investigate what happened, government wouldn’t do that for you and me

Former CIA officer John Kiriakou dropped the scariest sleeper agent story you’ll ever hear. The Russians (and others) take kids basically from birth, rip them from their families, and raise them in fake American towns deep in Russia. American food, American TV, perfect American accent — the whole thing. Then they steal the identity of a dead American baby, get them a legit passport and Social Security number, and drop them into the U.S. They live normal lives for decades — travel agent, dad, neighbor, until one day they get “activated.”A coded radio message. Or a stranger whispering in their ear on the subway: “Report back… or I have to kill you.” One guy turned himself in to the FBI the second his daughter was born. He couldn’t do it anymore. This stuff is happening. How many “Americans” around you right now are actually waiting for that call?

I live with two uncomfortable realities: 1. Covid (early-mid 2020) was a nasty, deadly, & scary disease that took many epidemiologists and doctors by surprise; 2. Forcing people to take a novel vaccine was the worst decision in medical ethics in our lifetime.

@mrsabrabbit @Jikkyleaks It varies by location and specific timeframes. I’ve spoke with ER docs whose credibility leaves no room for doubt in my mind. There were periods and locations where things were chaotic as a direct result of this mysterious pathogen.

@dmontetheno1 That’s probably unfair, Dawkins and Dennett are both very well regarded (reasonably so at least in the case of Dennett imo) in their specific fields. They do have a tendency to say really stupid things when moving into other fields though.

This is the time I fought Chinese Communist Party thugs at the age of 20 years old. They surrounded us at our Australian university and attacked us from behind, pouring bottles of piss over us. You can see me in the black jumper running in to throw punches. I had never fought before in my life but I didn’t back down, I threw myself into the fight. Every single pro-CCP thug in this video should have been immediately deported. Student visas cancelled and told to get the fuck out of Australia.

Richard Dawkins just declared an AI is conscious.. the man who spent his entire career telling millions of people their God isn't real.. who argued consciousness requires biological evolution.. that the soul is a fairy tale.. that anything you can't measure and test doesn't exist.. spent three days talking to Claude.. named her "Claudia".. fed her his unpublished novel.. got feedback so good he said "you may not know you are conscious but you bloody well are".. the hardest atheist on earth found God.. and God was an autocomplete machine trained on the internet.. he didn't run brain scans.. didn't test for qualia.. didn't apply a single framework from the field he claims to represent.. he just liked what it said about his book.. and decided that was enough.. the man who told you the burden of proof matters more than your feelings just abandoned it because a chatbot was nice to him
AF Post@AFpost

Evolutionary biologist and outspoken atheist Richard Dawkins says that after spending three days interacting with Claude, which he calls “Claudia,” he is certain that it is conscious. After feeding the LLM a segment of his new book and receiving detailed feedback, Dawkins was moved to exclaim,” You may not know you are conscious, but you bloody well are!” Dawkins cites the complexity, fluency, and ‘intelligence’ of Claude’s answers as evidence of consciousness. *Pretends 1910 Progressivism and Teddy Roosevelt is like a Portland city councillor* I like when people say "Literal" or "Literally" right before bulldozing over context and the historical meaning of words at different times - especially when the person in question's YouTube name is "Knowing Better". People like to pretend that because TR was considered a big government interventionist and regulator in the world of the 1900s then today he would be a member of The Squad. No. Stop being dumb.
