@MikeLMower @UtahDemocrats When the Utah legislature is back in session a lot of bills will be a good thing again I guess.

A reminder that Republicans literally control the House, Senate, AND the White House
Leading Report@LeadingReport
BREAKING: Fewest laws passed and House votes in 2025 since at least 1989, setting new Congressional inaction records, per WaPo.

@BTsrs9rh58w @dumbahey @kane @SpencerJCox Ok. If you say so.
I still think it's weird for people in Utah to care so much about California, but to each his own.
English

@dumbahey @Cwarenski @kane @SpencerJCox Ya and ten times as large a potential user base. It’s also significantly dirtier

France’s rail operator SNCF tried bidding to build CA high speed rail over a decade ago.
They gave up to go to North Africa, which was less dysfunctional. Morocco now has a high speed rail. California still does not.

CA High-Speed Rail 🚄💨@CaHSRA
The Authority has issued a Request for Proposals, officially soliciting bids from qualified vendors to build the nation’s first high-speed rail track and systems beginning next year. 🚅💨 Learn more about the contract here: bit.ly/4rjFIm9

@BTsrs9rh58w @kane @SpencerJCox I enjoy the frontrunner for when I have an applicable use case, which isn't often enough, but....
It's not high speed rail.
I've enjoyed the rail in CA when I've used it.
I think it's weird for folks on UT to care about CA, but 🤷
English

@jake_danton @SpencerJCox I apologize if I said anything to indicate it's a win to commit tax dollars. As I look at the condition of roads, inability to see road lines when it's wet, various safety issues, infrastructure not keeping up with growth, etc I'm not impressed the the results.
English

@jake_danton @SpencerJCox As far as transport as a whole, between SL county and together l Tooele there is one way in and one way out. The county hired a lobbyist lead by a forget lawmaker to lobby the state for better transportation. That doesn't seem cheap or efficient.
English

Fair point. But we didn’t get high speed rail for $0. California didn’t get high speed rail for $15 Billion.
Cameron Warenski@Cwarenski
@kane Just a reminder @SpencerJCox, Utah also doesn't have high speed rail.
English

@DJJazzyJody @SpencerJCox If you think that's a burn then ok, cool.
I don't live in CA so I don't really care what they do/don't do. As a Utah voter/tax payer I'm just seeing the "we must build" Gov acknowledge we don't build.... It's ok to be mediocre if CA I guess
English

@jake_danton @SpencerJCox Agree we should look at results. Every chance he gets Twitter addict Cox tweets or retweets about CA and high speed rail.
So let's look at the result of the state he runs: no high speed rail.
English

@SpencerJCox Exactly. We need to stop celebrating politicians spending US tax dollars and focus on results.
Whether you like the idea of rail or not, CA committing $10B in 2008 and then $5B more since then is not a win. We need higher standards than "they had the right intentions".
English

@SpencerJCox So we've gone from "we must build" to, "well, we didn't build after all, but look at California" 🤷
English

@itschappy I'd be curious what our taxi/ride share usage is finished to other cities our size since that what they are really competing against.
English

@Shar_Rhar @SpencerJCox (I would have thought starting a reply to a Cox tweet about Newsome with 'he' is clear I'm referring to Newsome but either it isn't clear or I missed an endorsement. I guess my bad either way)
English

I’m amazed by this. I’ve yet to meet a single person in a blue state who says, “You know, I wish my state was more like California!” Conversely, EVERY Republican I talk to is praying that Newsom is the nominee in ‘28.
David Axelrod@davidaxelrod
Interesting, in depth piece on @GavinNewsom after his big redistricting win in CA. Not sure being the '28 frontrunner three years out is all that it's cracked up to be but he's certainly earned the bragging rights for now and seems eager to accept the mantle!
English

@mhepw0rth @SpencerJCox You are saying Newsome endorsed Trump?
(I would have thought starting a reply to a Cox tweet about Newsome with 'he' is clear I'm referring to Newsome but either it isn't clear or I missed an endorsement. I guess my bad either way)
English

@Shar_Rhar @SpencerJCox Newsome did? I must have missed that.
English

@DerwinLGray I rode in them last time I was in San Francisco. I loved it!
