@appllleesss @TimSweeneyEpic @PlayStation @Xbox I believe he has mentioned this before, both the PS and XBox heavily subsidize the hardware cost selling at break even or very low profits and actually profit from the store only. With Apple, you're paying a heavy premium on the devices + the same 30% in the app store as well.

@TimSweeneyEpic You’re so hilariously hypocritical. You’ve never had this energy towards @PlayStation or @Xbox despite them taking the same 30% cut, because they’re your main moneymakers. Where’s the lawsuit against either of them?

Tim Cook's legacy in five charts 1. The shift to services. Barely visible in 2011, now worth $90bn+ a year. He inherited a hardware company. He leaves a platform

@MishaalRahman @MishaalRahman I hope we don't have to login into a Google account on our phones to start this process. Can you confirm? Also, for power users who need this ability from day 1 on their devices, can there be an adb override for the 24h waiting period?

📣Important clarifications on the new advanced flow for sideloading on Android! 1) It is a one-time process. Once you go through it, you can choose to allow installing unregistered apps indefinitely. 2) ADB installs are not affected. The waiting period does not apply to app installs via ADB. 3) It's my understanding that you don't have to keep developer options enabled after you enable the advanced flow. Once you make the change on your device, it's enabled. If you turn off developer options, then to turn off the advanced flow, you would first have to turn developer options back on.
Sameer Samat@ssamat

Android has always been about choice. Today, we’re sharing how we’re evolving the ecosystem so you don’t have to choose between an open platform and a secure one. We’re introducing a new advanced flow for sideloading where power users can go through a one time flow to enable their devices to load software from unverified developers. We’ve designed this process to stop more vulnerable users from being coerced to do this during a guided scam (which are a major problem today for people) We also have new account types for students and hobbyists that address their feedback.

@NothingNewsroom They might have to bring back the OG SD card slot lol, the feature they deliberately killed so OEMs can sell higher memory variants and Google can sell their cloud storage.

🚨 This is big. Nothing founder Carl Pei warns: By 2026, smartphones will either be ~30% more expensive or lose key features. Why? AI is eating the world’s DRAM & NAND supply. RAM that costs $20 → $100+ Specs race is stalling. Midrange phones may go backwards. Are we entering the most expensive phone era ever? 👀 x.com/getpeid/status… #Nothing #CarlPei #Smartphones #TechNews

@aetheryex @techsolvd @aravind We require code to be licensed as GPLv2 or permissive licenses for inclusion in GrapheneOS. We avoid adding more restrictive licenses than AOSP uses to avoid GrapheneOS not being a drop-in replacement in regards to license restrictions. Specifically, GPLv3 is being avoided.

I believe either GrapheneOS has been compromised by an intel agency or it is branching out into a commercial version soon. The sudden push for this OS on the web using influencers makes it very sus. Seems someone wants all people with good privacy needs to use it for some reason.

@C4ETech It's a classic Google trap. They've been doing this for years. First said photos backup is unlimited, then when enough people got onboarded, started counting it towards 15GB. WhatsApp backup also initially didn't count. Then all of a sudden they announced it'll start counting.

PSA - To anyone going for this, please keep in mind the google takeout process, especially for photos is quite annoying… downloading and sorting through 1000s of photos is gonna be a hassle… google also doesn’t let you just see photos size wise (under 5mb) Also google photos has backups with original quality as default and will do its best to get you to upload Once you go past 15GB you are stuck paying subscriptions for the rest of your life! @getpeid From a NP1 and NP2 user who was looking forward to NP3 very much before launch and now seeing all this happening, walking back on principles, I'll be going with a Pixel next. But thank you for the last 4 years! Ignited the OG OnePlus spark for sure.

@getpeid Not only those apps, but you guys have also preinstalled 3 meta apps (meta app manager, meta app installer and meta app services) into the device and these cannot be removed. Most people will not even realize these exist on their phone and are running. This is so bad.

@AliFakhruddin13 @beebomco I was one of their biggest fans trust me (phone 1 and phone 2 user), but this and the lock glimpse is not defensible. They're going against their own principles. Fate of every enthusiast company eh. Same happened to OnePlus 💸💸💸

@NothingCMFFans @AkisEvangelidis @getpeid We came to Nothing because they promised a clean software experience, because frankly the hardware & camera is nothing special. Always comparing to Apple, well iOS doesn't come with ads on lockscreen or 3rd party apps. No difference between Nothing & other android OEMs now.

@NothingCMFFans @AkisEvangelidis @getpeid himself called Instagram bloatware, all 3rd party apps are. No point defending here man 😅 Every OEM started like this, it's a slippery slope. Just few apps & services first, then few more & before you know, the phone is swimming in bloat and ads.

No ads. No bloatware. No tricks 🚫 @AkisEvangelidis has confirmed: Nothing won’t include massive ad networks or random pre-installed apps. Only a few popular, removable apps (like Instagram) — and only on some non-flagship devices. Everything stays under your control 👌

@ProtonSupport It doesn't work. Closing the error window closes the app. There is a hard dependency on Google Play by the Lumo app, other Proton apps work totally fine.
