@JimLaPorta Religion goes deep. It has immense power over human minds. Unfortunately, they may well think God is on their side. And that is a bad thing.

Thinking about that Bob Dylan song about how people of any faith throughout history claim “God is on our side” to justify violence and war. The uncomfortable question Dylan asks: can people really claim to know that God is on their side or are they just telling themselves that?

Hegseth prayed for violence against “those who deserve no mercy” and for justice to be executed "without remorse" during Wednesday’s prayer service. marinecorpstimes.com/news/pentagon-…

@DAlperovitch Feedback on your data illustration: Iran are still consistently getting off 100 munitions per day. The first few days were the anomaly. 100ish is the norm. I think a chart which reflects 100 as a significant number is more useful.

@LeanneSpurs @spectatorindex 'If you break it, you own it.' That is the rule. Unless you are bad/immoral country. Then you don't care.

Tbf to Trump, he's not wrong. The United States relies on the Strait of Hormuz for only ~1-2% of its oil needs, while China (90%), Europe, Japan, South Korea, and others depend far more heavily. Trump has quite rightly pointed out that other nations benefiting from it will have to get involved to secure it, as the U.S. doesn't need it and shouldn't shoulder the main burden alone. Allies have all mainly declined so far, though.

@BillyRober55287 @TheIranWatcher Degradation of the force over time. Talent KIA can harm the quality of the force. Plus the effects on cohesiveness, certainty, and morale. It might not make a difference. But it might. eg. loss of Nasrallah has hurt Hezbollah.

@TheIranWatcher The good news for Iran is, this will allow for more promotions. The bad news is...

@WeaponScientist It happened to a couple of boxing journalists I follow too.

@ME_Observer_ 'Withdrawing towards America'. It takes two weeks to get from Mid East to US. Is that your claim. The Lincoln is retreating from theater?

@credenzaclear2 Don't you like (feminist) writers who tell you what you want to hear? lol Most people do. It is a human fallibility. It's tricky because where is the line between: 'Agree with', and 'it's consoling/gratifying' ? Liking things for emotional reasons.

Geoconfirmed. Recent chants of "Death to Mojtaba!" in Ekbatan, Tehran, Iran. This POV at approximately 35.712727, 51.304961 captures the courtyard between the buildings. While similar, there are key features that standout. @FaytuksNetwork @GeoConfirmed

@DanLamothe @KyleKulinski Kyle Kulinski doesn't care about facts. He just riffs. Both on YT and on X. A low quality political commenter. He was recommended to a lot of people by @lthomasnews

It seems like gross incompetence or a total lack of preparation that the CIA and Mossad haven't been able to organize a defection in the regular Iranian army.

“I am so worried about my brother who is a conscripted soldier.” In Iran young boys are forced to serve in the military at age 18. It’s not voluntary.

@berlin_bridge @IAPonomarenko It's a famous meme depicting being superior, and aloof. A higher class.
English

@IAPonomarenko can someone explain this apparent cultural reference for those of us who live under rocks? 🪨

@TheWarMonitor @zerofss @Acyn But surely that was anticipated, and evacuations occurred. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet. Long way to go. And it could go many different ways

@Aviation_Intel What is your opinion of Patricia Marin's stuff? I follow her. She is interesting because she is extremely bullish on Iran's potential, and quite pessimistic on the US/Israel. So I follow her to see her pov. She does long technical threads. Is she legit?
English

Big thing I am seeing on X is super authoritative sounding accounts doing long threads, on defense tech etc, that use tons of jargon and acronyms so as to look like the account is 'in the know,' when really they have absolutely no idea whatsoever what they are talking about, or they are trying to put into words what someone who does know has said, but have no organic knowledge so it comes out horribly off. BUT it FEELS accurate if you don't know better. The more aggressive/assholish these accounts are the worse they are, red flag. Yet these threads get hundreds of even thousands of retweets. Threads bring the eyeballs and grow accounts, regardless of their accuracy. Many are leading people astray for more users or their personal 'brand' (whatever that really means).
Beware. And make sure to look at the accounts body of work, non X published pieces etc or professional background before buying it. Most fail the test. Many are anonymous which can be understandable, but should be held to tougher scrutiny, but that is never the case.

@saundby @Savakzadeh Agreed. I lived rurally and stared at Venus often and took pictures. That just looks like Venus.

@intelFromBrian lol These just seem like cover stories. The Israelis on their own did a 12 day war.
