@toddbarclay37 @FirstSquawk You likely aren’t educated enough to work there, so you probably don’t. The people who can get high paying jobs will benefit though.

Does anybody know anything about RE development in Canada and how it differs from that in the US (if at all)? Randomly will be working on something in Ottawa and curious if there's anything hugely different I should know about.

@SpencerFernando The CPC should instead distance itself from the libtards and other similar losers if it evers wants to win.

The CPC needs to fully distance itself from the current crop of ‘influencers’ who - even after Trump’s repeated threats against Canada - side with & promote Trump administration rhetoric against Canada. Not only is it deeply unethical, it’s unpatriotic and politically ruinous.

There it is: Natural gas prices are now down -6% just 15 minutes after futures opened for the first time since Maduro was captured. And, oil prices are back below $57/barrel and nearing their lowest levels since 2021. In just about ALL major escalations of geopolitical tensions with oil producing countries, energy prices typically RISE. Why is it different this time? Because the US taking control of Venezuela is set to bring MORE oil and natural gas supply to the market. The market knows that this weekend's events will ultimately result in the opposite of a supply disruption. The market is never wrong.

@vesperdigital Have you seen the line-up of liberticide bills the libtards want to pass? The Americans are helping us by messing with the minds of the liberals. Now they have to think twice about getting closer to Beijing.

I have always respected Michael Knowles for what he stands for. But I have to say this. This may be the most irresponsible, low resolution take I have ever seen from him. To suggest the U.S. would act toward Canada as it might toward Venezuela is not just unserious. It is diplomatically illiterate. Canada is not a totalitarian regime. It is a NATO ally and a democratic partner that has consistently condemned Maduro. For the U.S. to even utter such a threat would shred its international commitments. Violating the UN Charter, the North Atlantic Treaty, and the OECD Convention in one stroke is not "tough talk." It is a recipe for instant global isolation and economic suicide. Frankly, it is embarrassing to see someone usually sharp trade nuance for sensationalism. Do better, Michael. This is not edgy. It is just dumb.

🚨 This is happening right now. Lenders are digging for technical breaches to take homes before the real trouble begins. Banks are already refusing renewals, even for families who never missed a single payment. In Ontario, that leaves them exposed because lenders don’t need court. Power of sale lets them seize and sell homes quickly, on their terms. Missed taxes, lapsed insurance, even an unreported job change can trigger “default.” You have been warned.

@JCatUofG @ShaziGoalie Questions for you. Genuinely. Have you ever worked for any of our Schedule 1 banks in a role beyond "teller"? More specifically, in a Risk Management Operations role? Without looking it up, do you know what MQR means when when it was last adjusted?

The City of Toronto has 458M dollars of unpaid property taxes for 2024 on its books. I thought everyone and their neighbour were making 100K+ per year in the 6ix? We are nowhere near bottom. When it’s obvious to everyone - it’s already over. Silent depression. 🤫🇨🇦

The issue of home owners in Canada not paying property taxes is far worse than being reported. Silent depression. 🤫🇨🇦 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

@ManyBeenRinsed Have you thought to wonder and examine on what dates payable property tax instalments are due vs. financial statements year end? Aside from delinquencies, deferrals, and disputes, a simple matter of timing mismatch would explain the bulk of this figure here, don't you think? ✌️

@khzny @BenRabidoux @SteveSaretsky CMHC just released theirs, the only issue is the count starts when it reaches ground level so apt/condos are delayed in counting from when they actually started.

@JShamess How long does it take for the market to absorb the overhang? Then get confidence to start projects, then to get presales needed to get financing, then to build (if they still pencil). Little new construction in Toronto/GTA for 4 years?

Vancouver currently has the most unsold units in Canada by a large margin. No wonder their developers want foreign buyers back so badly: Vancouver - 4,200 Montreal - 3,000 Toronto - 2,800 Edmonton - 2,500

@danielfoch Biased research with the intent of removing as much regulation for builders as possible. Their other research says that Montreal will be rents will be 4200+ for a 2 bed after 2030 - goes against what everyone sees from coming supply.

@danielfoch Hence why CMHC is pulling levers to make the MLI Select product worse. How many of those units are at 95% LTC? Surprised at the trend in Kingston and Guelph though. Kingston has had almost no vacancy historically.
