I saw it with my own eyes: moldy food. People needing immediate medical attention who can’t see a doctor for over a week or who can’t get their medicine. The fact is that the Trump Administration can't get their story straight about what's going on. Delaney Hall should be closed NOW.

Went on a date to the movies and this man asked me if I wanted snacks. I said yes I'll have popcorn with jalapeños. He said oh you want me to buy your popcorn. I just looked at him for a second. You asked me if I wanted snacks. I told you what snack I wanted. And now we're here. I said oh you don't want to buy it? That's fine I'll get it myself. And I did. I bought my own popcorn with jalapeños and did not think about him for the rest of that interaction. I need someone to explain to me how we got here as a society. You asked. I answered. Secretary Mullin said I shouldn't have been at Delaney Hall, but I disagree. This isn't about me. This is about the detainees and their families, the lawlessness we're seeing from ICE. I was willing to take a risk and I'd do it all over again to keep people safe.

Today I visited Delaney Hall as part of my congressional oversight duties, meeting with both those who run the facility and privately with people being held there. After seeing who is being held and the conditions under which they’re detained, I believe most Americans would agree that this facility is a moral stain on our community. In fact, the majority of the people we encountered have NO criminal charges or the kind of violence or criminality that Donald Trump said he was going to be focusing his attention on. This is unacceptable to me. I’ll keep demanding this facility be closed now and to end this administration’s chaotic and cruel immigration policy. I will not vote to give another dollar to ICE.

I went to Delaney Hall after reports of unsafe and unconstitutional conditions inside, and what I heard from families and advocates was heartbreaking. The people being held there are fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters who deserve to be treated with dignity.

My request to access the facility was denied this morning, raising even more questions about what they are trying to hide from public view. I’ll keep fighting for answers and to hold ICE accountable.

Most of the time you go to the “doctor“ you’ll never see a doctor at all. You’ll see a nurse practitioner. But they’ll still bill you as if you had seen a doctor. Even though the nurse practitioners are far less educated and trained, and paid much less.

Two and a half years ago, my best friend abruptly dumped me for objecting to a TiM in our open locker room at the pool. It broke my heart. Rape victims are often accused of adultery under Sharia law if they report being raped by married Muslim men. Here is a shocking example: A 13-year-old girl in Somalia was raped by a married Muslim man. Instead of punishing the rapist, an Islamic Sharia court sentenced the little girl to death. The Muslim rapist accused her of “seducing” him by appearing in public, and the court agreed — convicting her of adultery. Hundreds of Muslim men gathered to stone her to death as an offering to Allah. They laughed, cheered and shouted “Allahu Akbar” as she screamed in agony until her last breath. Not one man stepped forward to save the 13-year-old rape victim. Everyone in the village heard her cries for help before the execution. Instead of intervening, they tied her hands behind her back and chained her feet. The local imam directed the men to dig a hole and bury her up to her waist so she could not move or dodge the stones aimed at her head. For hours before and during the stoning she begged for mercy, looking toward her neighbors, her father, and every Muslim man taking part. Until her final breath she cried out, but no one rescued her. Of the hundreds of men present, none showed compassion. The participants gladly joined this Islamic act of worship, ignoring her pleas and rejoicing with “Allahu Akbar” while brutally killing her. This is not an isolated barbaric act. This is Sharia law in practice — where the victim is punished and the rapist protected if he is married. Not all cultures are equal. Some protect the innocent. Islam punishes the raped girl and calls it justice. The West keeps importing this ideology while pretending it is compatible with our values. It is not. Share this. The world must see the true face of Sharia and stop the denial.
