@HakureiRyan @pskpspspss But Taco Bell back in the day was... Let's just say you got all 89 cents worth.

"Buying lunch out every day was never affordable" Bitch just 15 years ago $5 worth of fast food could feed you for an entire workweek. That's less than 1 hour of minimum wage pay by the way! Boomers are desperate for us to forget that at one point fast food was price competitive with cooking at home. In fact this strat right here likely came in under the per-meal cost of anything you could make at home for the same amount of calories and fillingness. Remember, these used to be bigger, they have shrinkflated in addition to becoming more expensive.

@Gryffix Yeah. But the past 3 generations have done the no future thing. Unfortunately for all the other things on Earth. We continue to have a future. We persist. I'd accept the bitching for many things but this one is to much.

I do think this is important. Gen Z wastes a lot of money and is guilty of overconsumption, but even without it houses wouldn't be affordable. Aside from people going into debt over takeout, some feel like they'd be saving money that can't be put to something better anyway.

Damn bro, I wonder why the generation that feels like they have no future gets upset when you tell them they can't have their one tangible form of relief and enjoyment.

@Gryffix 100% I loved the burrito taxi concept when it first came out and still do. If only I had realized it's social economic consequences would be on scale with meth amphetamine.

You people are being dense on purpose, pretending you don't understand to justify your entitlement & laziness. I'd respect it a lot more if you just admitted you want a burrito taxi instead of all the mental gymnastics. Acting like toddlers throwing a tantrum in a store.
Atem@Atem_Aero

@IamR0galD0rn @bigsmallones You need 2,000~2,500 calories a day. It's not one sandwich a day. It's three, if you make it really dense. So weekly, that's 21 sandwiches. Two hundred USD on fucking sandwiches. That's how much my groceries cost weekly anyway, and I don't have to live entirely off sandwiches.

@PurpyNFL @TylerYogi99 I just refiled my water and looked at a cup measuring glass I have. I feel like a safety monitor should provide a disclaimer next to that suggestion.

@PurpyNFL @TylerYogi99 Gary does make an incredible good point. It's a cup of soy sauce, a cup. Just start cooking salt and injecting it into your veins as a meal at that point.

@skyrider2020 @kronos0316 @Chettlar @BeigeFrequency What really hurts me. I'm going to get a little corny here. Those experiences. Being poor and eating sit. Those are things that build you. I'm sorry these people think a servant delivered meal is more important than real life.

@kronos0316 @skyrider2020 @Chettlar @BeigeFrequency Yeah. I live in Northern Virginia and it's basically fighting for over 30 year old town homes or buying something absurd. The work is good though, so like many things in life, it's a bit of weighing it all together.

@SlumRNA_Dog It seems that as people become abstracted more from the production of the service. As it becomes more just service insertion. People become more dead to the others that provide the underlying work to make it look so simple. They basically become tech executives.

@SlumRNA_Dog Like. Any pragmatic realist in this utopia has to understand that it requires a substantial indentured and/or slave labor component to subsidize costs.

I feel like the “just eat a poverty sandwich” crowd are the real doomers. Their solution doesn’t scale. When people in the middle class are eating worse than unemployed people they lose their incentive to work, which only further shrinks the middle class, who keep the lights on.
VB Knives@Empty_America

Perfect example of the "commiseration seeking" style of communication. The only solution-oriented response to complaints about a $28 sandwich is "pack a lunch." I mean you either pay, don't eat lunch, or pack a sack. But they are looking for a emotional "acknowledgement."

@skyrider2020 @kronos0316 @Chettlar @BeigeFrequency Save complaining about it all for when your old. Complaining life should be a old people thing. I don't know. The uncertainty. The sucking. That was part of the fun when I was young. It built deep bonds with friends and developed character. I'd never trade it.

@DW89301727 @kronos0316 @Chettlar @BeigeFrequency I wish one of my boomer parents would have left me a house and a bunch of money like the Gen z kids think happens 😂 My mom left behind debt for kids to pay. My dad left his humble 2 bedroom home he built himself to my brother, the other 4 kids received a 1200 check from SSA 🤷

@kronos0316 @skyrider2020 @Chettlar @BeigeFrequency I'm a cynical middle aged guy and would say. Enjoy life while your young, spend as little as possible on the things you don't find important, and tuck away some money (any amount, just do it to do it), start the habit for when you hit your prime earning years.
