The backstory here is that the Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of this land a century ago. They sued, got their land back, and used their sovereignty to ignore local zoning rules and build 6,000 new homes over the objections of nearby NIMBYs.

Every single one of these NIMBY screeds is music to my ears. As if genocide and land theft didn't break the rules. It's great for urban form that the city is going to stop quarantining the tall buildings to just a small fraction of the land.

What you’re experiencing is called projection. I don’t need to be paid to stand up in defence of 🇨🇦 values & to support leaders who do what’s right, even when it might be hard or unpopular. Nor do I need to be paid to #StandTogether with Jewish Canadians & our democratic ally. Coincidentally, it seems it’s those who throw out these false accusations, who glorify terrorists, and defend them who seem to be the ones that are being paid to take such shameful positions. A coincidence, I’m sure. I suppose we should take some comfort in the fact that deep down you know it’s wrong, which is why you have to be paid to take such heinous positions. But there’s still hope for you. You will be delighted to know there are other ways to earn a living—find a job, work on yourself, and you too can one day look yourself in the mirror with pride, as opposed to the sad, terror supporter looking back at you today.

Divide total spending by the entire homeless population and the number appears manageable. Divide it by those actually living on the street, and it begins to resemble a mid-level executive salary. City insiders say the flexibility is intentional. “It allows us to communicate progress while maintaining urgency,” one source explained. Residents say they’ve noticed a different trend. “I’ve seen more programs, more funding, more announcements,” said one taxpayer. “Just not fewer tents.” Officials emphasized that the issue is not a lack of resources, but the need for more coordination, more investment, and more time—confirming plans for a new multi-agency task force to study why current spending levels have yet to produce measurable change.
