Andre Iguodala says winning isn’t the priority right now for players in the NBA: “You got 1/3 of the league tanking. You got guys who will never contribute to winning but have big numbers and then get paid. All agents do is say what your numbers are then match them to whoever gets paid high in that category so it’s like I can go average 24 because it’s not as hard as it used to be… So now it’s like why play the right way to win when you can make more money getting buckets” (Via @Roommates__Show)

In the 1975 SF municipal elections, Jim Jones' People's Temple (est. 5,000 members) mobilized a large voting bloc for allies like Mayor George Moscone (won runoff by ~4,400 votes) and others incl. Harvey Milk & DA Joseph Freitas. They supplied campaign volunteers & "get out the vote" efforts. Former members told NYT Jones directed fraud: busing non-residents from Redwood Valley/LA to vote at fake SF addresses, using marked ballots, coercion, & secret temple residents. Loser John Barbagelata claimed ballot-stuffing via dead voters' registrations. Jones was later appointed to SF Housing Authority. Investigations followed but yielded no Temple convictions; scale of fraud remains debated.

@whentoletgo @elonmusk The Boring Company isn't charging Las Vegas taxpayers anything. They'll recoup construction costs through fares. Given Elon Derangement Syndrome, a similar arrangement seems unimaginable here

Just what San Francisco needs: another subway project that will cost a fortune, take forever to finish, and carry fewer riders than expected once it is done.

Between Nick Shirley and the Citizen Justice League, Newsom sure has his plate full this week. It only gets worse from here. New releases every day - each one just as damning or more damning than the one before it.

American investigated and found the The Kardashians own a church “The Kardashian family owns and runs the California Community Church — and for a long, long time, there have been a lot of rumors that have circled this church, specifically the tax implications around it” Imposter Churches have been used as tax evasion schemes in America many times

In May of 2022 Gavin Newsom announced that California had almost a $100 billion budget surplus. Six months later the news was reporting that California was facing a $25 billion deficit. "The worst outlook since the Great Recession." Faulty projections, a loss of tax revenue, and a crazy spending spree, much of which was in the form of one time giveaways to the various groups and projects now being highlighted for fraud and incompetence. Imagine the fraud that took place just during those six months in 2022.

Good job on showing up. Shame on Lydia and Gubbio Project for not engaging. They operate a supervised consumption site inside a church and the city just gave them millions of dollars. I don't understand why. #SanFrancisco

Fair point. But here's the thing: the businesses I work with are wholesale B2B. Their customers are other businesses, not individual consumers losing jobs. The real question is whether AI creates enough new economic activity to offset the displacement. Historically every major automation wave did, but with a brutal transition period in between. We're in that transition period right now.

🚨 Let me tell you why this Goldman Sachs headline is the most dangerous one you'll read today.. Companies spent $450 billion on AI last year.. fired tens of thousands of people to "restructure around AI".. replaced entire departments with chatbots.. And Goldman Sachs just said it contributed basically zero to economic growth.. so where did the money go? > It went to Nvidia.. $130 billion in GPU sales.. Jensen is the only man on earth who got rich from AI that hasn't produced anything yet.. > It went to stock buybacks.. companies fired people, cut costs, reported "record profits" and bought back their own shares.. the money went UP not OUT.. Jesus! > It went to a bubble.. the same way crypto money went to Lamborghinis and not infrastructure.. AI money is going to valuations and not productivity.. here's the part that should terrify you.. They already fired the people.. Atlassian 1,600.. Meta 21,000.. Block 40%.. Amazon warehouses.. the jobs are already gone.. But the growth didn't come.. the productivity didn't come.. the revenue didn't come.. they burned the village to build a city that doesn't exist yet.. and Goldman Sachs just looked at the empty lot and said "there's nothing here"
