The Verge has lost its way. Several months ago, they interviewed me for 45 minutes about Apple Vision Pro. I spent 43 minutes talking about what I love, and 2 minutes on what I’d change. They twisted parts of those 2 minutes and cut everything positive I said. To make it worse, the author opened the interview by saying they were biased against headsets. I miss the old Verge. The one that was fun. The one that spotlighted tech instead of throwing shade.

@GeologistVaughn @hubermanlab Wearables (rings, bands, watches) can’t accurately track REM and deep sleep. Just focus on the metrics that they can track very well such as heart rate, HRV, respiration rate, SpO2, sleep time, bed time, wake time and sleep efficiency. The rest will take care of itself.

@hubermanlab I never put those together. My rem is high but deep in almost non existent-30-40 mins (Apple Watch). It worries me endlessly and use all your sleep protocols and deep still low…… let me explore ways to do this without the expense of temp regulated sleep pad…..

Most everything that increases deep sleep will lessen your REM and vice versa. So do as you will with Pinealon GH secretagogues etc but be aware of this. In any case, cool-cold-warm (subjective bed temps across 6.5-8hrs of sleep) is what provides best deep & REM sleep balance.

You should go to bed around the same time every night🌓 Sleep consistency (+/- 30 min) has been seen to be a bigger predictor of survival than total sleep duration Most regular sleepers (top 20%) had 30–48% lower risk of death compared to the least regular (bottom 20%), even after controlling for health, income, and lifestyle factors. To score in the highest regularity quintile, participants went to bed and woke up within a 1-hour window daily. Those in the lowest quintile varied by 3+ hours. The study was also done in older individuals aged ~63, which minimizes the risk of things like shift work affecting the results Study: PMID: 37738616

This is what Vision Pro is all about.” I finally got the chance to watch the first immersive 3D live broadcast on Vision Pro, which was undoubtedly a historic moment for live television. It's available now, even outside the U.S. To watch the full Lakers vs Bucks Game Replay all you need to do is to create a free NBA account, open the NBA App on Vision Pro, go to the "Immersive" tab, long-press on “Watch Game Now” and then "Immersive full Game". To be honest, I’m not that into sports. But I have to say, it’s a completely different experience when you actually feel like you’re part of the action instead of watching it through a flat 2D piece of glass. It's just so much fun. This truly changes the game of watching games at home. 🏀

@neilcybart It is. Still looks like a high end video game to me though. Background blurring looks off and character movements unnatural like they are gliding. Main characters are missing a human spark and more nuanced motion. Makes wonderful click bait for the usual suspects though.

I’m SO hyped for the future of business meetings! Yesterday, I had a very special FaceTime call on Vision Pro. My business partner Chris and I were sitting in the same room, while the CEO of Scenery, Marc, was virtually added to our lounge chairs through the magic of Spatial Computing. Chris’s Persona aligned perfectly with his real body, and the audio was perfectly synced — making the experience feel incredibly real. With this technology, we can truly teleport people. It‘s so cool.

I recently used an AI start-up to ask a question (that I would have normally asked in a traditional search engine). I received a factually incorrect answer. More worrying, the answer was wrapped in confidence, making it doubtful few would click through to source material.

Resting heart rate before bed is the single most important health marker you can optimize for. Lowering it will do more for your health than anything else. Why? + it's the strongest predictor of your sleep quality + sleep quality determines will power and if you'll exercise + exercise and will power determine if you eat well. Top things to lower your RHR before bed: 1. Eat your final meal of the day 2-8 hours before bed. Experiment. 2. Have a 30-60 min wind down routine before bed. Read a book. Journal. 3. Turn off screens. Do it. 4. Have red and amber lights on. 5. No alcohol. Stimulants (caffeine) in the morning hours to avoid disruption. 6. Be consistent, in bed +/- 30 min each night.
