@AvantiWestCoast If you look at the departures from Euston, every train that left the station in the hour prior to the scheduled departure time left on time, or within a minute of its scheduled departure time. So where did the phantom late train come from?

@DavidDeeayjay Hi David. I can confirm the service was delayed due to a late running train being in front of this one, and I can see the train departed London Euston 12 minutes behind schedule, and arrived into Wolverhampton 10 minutes behind schedule. I'm not sure what you mean, sorry? - Sam

@AvantiWestCoast is it normal for your train crews to lie to their passengers? I was on the 21:06 London to Wolverhampton service tonight which left 23 minutes late. We were advised on the screens and tannoy that the delay was due to a late/slow train ahead of us.

@DavidDeeayjay Two of the three remaining B747-400 sims were sold and removed a couple of years ago, and those spaces had remained vacant. One B747-400, sim 3, remains operational. I think the other vacant space has been filled with a new A320 Neo sim.

Interesting that if you look at the detailed Euston departure information that every train for an hour prior to ours left within a minute of its expected time and was within a minute of the schedule when it got to Milton Keynes where I got off 🤔

Scotland is waking up to the devastating news that the Forth Bridge has been stolen. I heard it on the radio and had to run along to see it for myself. The radio said they were following a positive line of enquiry with a local company that uses girders to make soft drinks.

Very sad to learn of the death of Len Deighton, who was one of the two greatest spy thriller writers of all time and in some regards was Le Carre’s superior. Anyone who has not read Deighton should try Funeral in Berlin, Bomber or SSGB. Most of all they should seek out Berlin Game, the start of an epic 10 book Cold War series focused on Bernard Samson. Deighton’s writing was sharp, satirical, gripping and often amusing. His office infighting in the intelligence services was delicious and his characters are beautifully drawn. The Samson cycle starts with a meticulously plotted run of five books (Berlin Game, Mexico Set, London Match, Spy Hook and Spy Line) which all stand alone but tell one big story from the jaded but dedicated perspective Bernard a brilliant field operative. Len’s genius idea was to use the sixth, Spy Sinker, to retell the whole cycle from the perspective of everyone else, exposing what Bernard didn’t know and misunderstood. There is then an origin story about Bernard’s dad during the war, Winter, and then a concluding trilogy of Faith, Hope and Charity, which is not as high quality but deals with the fallout from the events of books 1-5. It’s an epic achievement and the greatest long series in spy fiction, accepting that the Smiley series is the greatest short series. Do yourself a favour, give it a try
