If *I* say “fair enough” to your argument, it’s because I want you to leave me alone because I’m uninterested in arguing

If a white suburban dad says “fair enough,” to your argument, you have won the greatest of victories.

@higginsszn79372 @RISEUPCASTYT @4ourmanrush Wanna bet Phillips has more sacks next year than your last year’s sack leader? Hard to pile up stats in prison.

@RISEUPCASTYT @4ourmanrush Jpj out we have the better roster than yall in almost every aspect 🤣and who has no 1st round pick?

@AdamSchefter @marcraimondi He needs counseling and to be paying Rickea restitution. He need therapy until he retire.

@MLBRaleigh @acvNC9 @thatcrazycaniac None of Nashville, Raleigh or Charlotte can successfully support the slowly dying MLB. Would end up just being another also-ran team like Pittsburgh.
English

@acvNC9 @thatcrazycaniac Never said MiLB would stop MLB. But cities tying hundreds of millions to unexpandable, Downtown MiLB ballparks are a different matter…

Guess there were some miscalculations.
Metro populations are misleading. Nashville’s metro accounts for THREE times the land area as Raleigh. We’re the 4th smallest sized metro in the top-50.
Which is why we use population radiuses, where everyone is the same. #RaleighOnDeck

@ericstait @LennyLLM @stepvision34 @lyndonbajohnson I went to a fully integrated schools in the South starting in fourth grade (1969). Most (all?) white Northerners I know went to virtually all white schools.
English

@LennyLLM @stepvision34 @lyndonbajohnson Half of your generation and it wasn’t even across the country because of white intransigence against integration.
Many places, even up north didn’t start busing till the late 70’s early 80’s.

@lyndonbajohnson Hey wait. Gen X were the first to attend integrated schools.

@peterrhague You don't have any proof that "everyone else" bought tickets.

@lbelle212 @AlecStapp I realize that I touched a nerve when you started name-calling . Your “as expected” comment was of the casual, unthinking brand of racism. It wasn’t vicious. Think “soft bigotry of low expectations.” Just be patient, and give what’s happening in MS a chance to continue to work,

This is a really astonishing claim:
Students in Mississippi & Louisiana score higher on reading tests than students in California & New York despite spending way less money per pupil and having higher child poverty rates.
Decided to double check the data because, if true, this should be alarming for blue state leaders.
And yup, it checks out.
Reading performance (NAEP 2024, Grade 4 reading, average scale score):
Mississippi: 219
Louisiana: 216
New York: 215
California: 212
Child poverty (SAIPE; “estimated percent of people age 0–17 in poverty,” 2023):
Louisiana: 25.2%
Mississippi: 24.3%
New York: 18.6%
California: 15.0%
Per-pupil spending (public K–12 “current expenditures per pupil,” FY2023, inflation-adjusted to FY2023 dollars)
New York: $29,588
California: $18,568
Louisiana: $14,822
Mississippi: $12,238
It should be unacceptable to spend that much more taxpayer money while delivering worse results for students.

@lbelle212 @AlecStapp Nice try! But your comment was racist. You don’t think a state that is 40 percent AA can keep up with a state that is 17 percent AA. But it has.
English

@lbelle212 @AlecStapp I don’t need your permission to post here.
And I’m not interested in what you claim your “woke bona fides” are. Your “as expected” comment was racist and offensive.
English

@lbelle212 @AlecStapp I think you are confusing a static snapshot with a process. The beneficiaries of the southern states’ more enlightened approach to learning haven’t made it to 8th grade yet, much less college.

Turns out you can make anyone seem innocent if you leave out the middle part of the story where they committed the crime. “A math professor moved to a cabin in Montana. Now he’s serving life in prison.”

@ashkan Nashville might not have funding. Their mayor said after giving the Titans (NFL) a new stadium, there’s no money left for a MLB team. Honestly I could see SLC get picked over Portland. Charlotte has no concrete plans as far as I can tell. Hey @mlb bring back the @Montreal_Expos!
English

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has publicly indicated an ambition to add two expansion teams following the 2026 labor resolution & the 2027 renegotiation of media rights - putting expansion realistically in 2028 or later.
If & when two teams are added, basic league logic suggests one in the West and one in the East. As the pieces of the @Montreal_Expos puzzle continue to come together - capital from PE funds, an anchor principal investor & a viable downtown stadium/4C site - it’s essential that Montreal’s proposal be clearly superior in the eyes of @mlb to other Eastern candidates such as Nashville and Charlotte.
Granting both expansion franchises to either two Eastern or two Western markets would be geographically inefficient for the league. That reality means Montreal must present a plan that is head and shoulders above competing Eastern bids - on ownership depth, market fundamentals, stadium readiness, and long-term upside.
I genuinely wish all candidate cities well. But from Montreal’s perspective, our objective is clear: ensure our proposal decisively outclasses what Nashville or Charlotte can offer - and false modesty aside, 4C includes much of those intangibles:
- the FanOS tech @watchmojo has,
- the Academy & Study of Entrepreneurship (these days, athletes don't want to be broadcasters or coaches post-career, they are entrepreneurs & investors),
- the Museum & Pavillions showcasing Montreal to the world while importing the best of the world to Montreal's new playground, etc.
This framework is taken from Version 7 of the #PeanutProject executive summary.
Many fans ask how they can help - if you have insights on the strengths, weaknesses, risks, or opportunities of Nashville or Charlotte, feel free to share them (replies, DMs, carrier pigeon - all welcome).
Let’s leave no stone unturned. LFG.
