This is one of the most bittersweet moments of our lives. Our son-in-law was laid off in Winnipeg a few weeks ago, his company closed down in Canada. He is 33, a software engineer, and he and our daughter have a new baby. Now Roblox has recruited him to Silicon Valley. Our daughter will be able to stay at home with our granddaughter, which she would not have been able to do in Winnipeg, like most working parents we know. A huge plus, considering the woke goofball education systems everywhere in the West. We are proud of him. He earned this. It is an extraordinary opportunity for their young family. But my wife and I are crushed. We spent our lives building in Manitoba. My wife ran a Lab and Imaging Unit. I ran businesses, farmed through brutal weather, survived terrible government policy, cared for aging parents, raised our family and contributed to our community. Farming was not merely hard. It was years of risk, sacrifice and uncertainty, with governments constantly making life more difficult for the people who actually produced something. Now Canada is losing another highly skilled young worker because the opportunities are better somewhere else. Mark Carney and Wab Kinew can talk all they want about growth, innovation and compassion. People live with the results, not the speeches. Winnipeg cannot compete for talent when taxes are high, productivity is weak, investment leaves, wages lag and essential services fail. COVID was already more than I can forgive. Families were divided, businesses were damaged, children lost years, peaceful protesters were treated like enemies, and the politicians responsible still speak as though they acted with perfect wisdom. Then there is healthcare. My wife had a stroke. It took three years to find out what had happened. Vision problems. Three years of waiting, confusion, worsening symptoms and watching someone you love struggle while a supposedly world-class public system, that she worked hard in for 40 years, moved at a crawl. That is not compassion. It is institutional failure. So yes, this move is bittersweet. I am proud of our children and angry at the country they feel they must leave. They are going where talent is valued, work is rewarded and healthcare is part of the employment package. Carney and Kinew should be ashamed of the country and province they are helping to govern. Their policies have consequences. Families pay them. Patients pay them. Workers pay them. Grandparents pay them. We moved to Winnipeg from rural Manitoba to be closer to our daughters. A plane trip to our olderst daughter in BC and a walk down the street to our youngest daughters home. We are allowed to grieve this. We’ll miss birthdays, spontaneous visits, and having our grandchild just down the road. At the same time, this move will give our daughter and grandson financial security that lasts for decades. My wife and I spent much of our lives trying to give the next generation better choices than we had. Ironically, that success will mean watching them build their future somewhere else. We will miss our daughter, son-in-law and grandchild terribly, we could just walk down the street to see them… now it will be more flights. And I will never forgive the people who helped make leaving Canada the only sensible choice.

@miroirdufou @AmyahA_ @jk_rowling @AmnestyUK “Brute strength has very little value.” Ignorance, immaturity & naivety exposed. Keep living in quite silly philosophical bubbles - the real world will keep turning.

@AmyahA_ @jk_rowling @AmnestyUK We build civilisation by offering equal safety & opportunity, to everyone, no matter where/how they're born. & yes, with women, globally we're no-where near, yet. This is exactly where JKR could be using her fortune to make progress. But she chooses to bully trans people instead.

Your apology for labelling women-only rape support centre Beira's Place 'anti-rights' is a nice birthday present, @AmnestyUK. Cheers. And congratulations to all the other women's and LGB organisations Amnesty acknowledges having wrongly smeared as 'anti-rights'.

@allen_hunter @jessesingal Allen, then you’re as bad as she is. Males who claim a trans identity remain male. Science clearly show a retained advantage, no matter what that male does to himself to try to change sex. Humans can’t change sex. The female sport category excludes males. THIS IS SIMPLE.

@jessesingal Honestly as an answer I don’t think it was horrible. I think basically she said “I don’t know enough to speak to the biological aspect of this but I have a cultural imperative to be accepting that makes me uncomfortable with excluding trans women”. Not a wild position

Don't think trans sports stuff is gonna be major in most 2026 races, but holy hell is this a demoralizing albatross for Dems to be dragging around. GOP knows they can ask any Dem this and 80% of the time it will generate cringeworthy oppo footage. Rank political malpractice.

Fever coach Stephanie White is asked her stance on males playing in women's sports. "I wouldn't really say that I'm educated enough from a scientific standpoint. I don't ever believe that exclusion is the answer." She then opens up on "frustration" over the debate being tied to the team lately, as they are playing their second game in a row with a rally celebrating Sophie Cunningham's stance for protecting women's sports.

@FoxNews @Outkick Your framing is wrong. This is not about “facing trans athletes”. It’s about girls being forced to compete against boys. Come on. This is a problem with trans-identifed males. No male athlete “faces trans athletes” because this is only a problem for females.

EXCLUSIVE: The teenager allegedly berated by a Seattle Storm co-owner breaks her silence to @Outkick High school athlete Ahnaleigh Wilson and her family say no one from the WNBA or the Seattle Storm has reached out to personally apologize for the incident. "They owe these girls an apology. She needs to be held accountable. We teach our kids that every choice has a consequence, good or bad, and you have to own up to your mistakes." Ahnaleigh says she supported Sophie Cunningham's message of fairness in women's sports because the issue is personal to her. "They don't know my story. They don't know that I've actually experienced this, and I've experienced it more than once. I'm going into junior year now, and I've competed against a biological male four times." HOW have they not come up with a better answer than "I'm not educated enough to tell you how men & women are physically different"? Serious question. They've had since KBJ's horrible response to "what is a woman" to think of a better response. Just vapid nonsense.

Official statement by @beirasplace on @AmnestyUK's recent climbdown. "Beira’s Place acknowledges the apology published by Amnesty International together with the undertaking to commission an independent external review into how two reports containing such false and harmful allegations could be published and promoted in its name. The permanent removal of both reports is a tacit acceptance that they contained allegations which were false and defamatory of a large number of organisations which it classed as ‘gender critical'.  While the apology is welcomed it does not rectify the reputational damage caused to Beira’s Place.  In particular the apology fails to recognise that those most severely impacted are the staff who work day in day out to support survivors of sexual violence and the many women who need and use the service. Although the apology extends to those groups classed as 'gender critical' it is noteworthy that many other organisations were wrongly defamed by Amnesty in both reports forsimply upholding the protected belief that sex is real, immutable and important in many areas of life.  Those organisations also deserve a written apology."

@robertgraham @HistoryBoomer Gender ideology has nothing to do with same sex attraction - it fact they’re diametrically opposed. LGB goals are opposite to TQ goals (erasure of binary sex classes while simultaneously enforcing sex stereotypes) & many L & G people are protesting this erasure.

@robertgraham @HistoryBoomer No, we weren’t -that grouping is new & was never tested prior. It was LGB for decades. It’s been tested now & that’s what’s being rejected. When we were forced to say “TW are Women” & “NB people are neither M nor F” many women said flat out no; we knew male invasion was immediate

From 2019 to 2021, there was nothing published in mainstream news that was not lockstep with what trans activists wanted said. Activists have the right to their views, but the bullying that went on in lefty spaces to enforce ideological conformity should not be forgotten. I certainly won't forget it. And if you downplay it or claim it didn't happen, you'll probably annoy me! I have nuanced and evolving views on trans issues. I want trans people treated with respect, but I also want women to have protected rights in women's-only spaces. How to solve conflicts of rights and wishes is not easy! I can't figure out what I think is best without being able to listen to a variety of voices offer their arguments on the issues. When you silence debate, when you tell me I shouldn't be talking about this, you're telling me that I should not try to figure anything out; I should just agree with you, or else. The enforced conformity Kat is talking about was very real, and very bad.
Kat Rosenfield@katrosenfield

@TheFP I had actually forgotten the full extent of the lockstep ideological conformity on this issue across platforms and disciplines; it was impossible not to know what you were supposed to think

@MrCeeJay2026 @jkenney The lab leak is far from a conspiracy theory. Come on, time to grow up. We should be able to look in the rear view mirror now with common sense and some impartiality. This isn’t us against them - should never have been that.

With all the clamour about Anthony Fauci's Congressional testimony, we shouldn't lose sight of President Trump's tremendous leadership in Operation Warp Speed. It played a critical role in the rapid development, testing and distribution of safe vaccines that ended the Covid pandemic, and saved countless lives. Full credit and gratitude where they are due. Thank-you, President Trump. trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefings-stat…

@MrCeeJay2026 @jkenney There is a middle ground - for instance it’s not paranoia to notice that yes, it’s known now that covid was a lab leak from a lab that Dr Fauci was involved with. He lied to protect himself & did massive amounts of harm to various populations in the process.

Dan, you utter moron. Sports categories exist TO BE EXCLUSIONARY. The concern about males competing in female sports is about MALES IN FEMALE SPORT. Trans-ness doesn’t matter, nor does nonbinary. Bodies compete, not identities. Males must remain in the male sport category.
Dan Falkenheim@thefalkon

Sophie Cunningham’s words about trans athletes are creating a negative, exclusionary environment. It’s antithetical to what the players stand for, and incompatible with Indiana’s goal of “making Fever fans for life.” The W and the Fever need to do better than remaining silent

Sophie Cunningham expressed a very mainstream opinion about biological sex in a very compassionate way. Celeste Keaton yelled at teen girls for wearing a shirt she didn't like. Kind of sums up the last decade of the "be kind" discourse.
