@DeputySecState I see Lansing & Acheson & Herter & Warren Christopher & Blinken on there -- how many have gone on to be Secretary of State themselves? (Asking for a friend.)

I’m proud to be the latest link in a distinguished chain that dates back to the first Washington Administration in 1789 of principal deputies to the Secretary of State. The job has had different names over the centuries, and the foreign policy opportunities and challenges have varied greatly, but our country has made it through a quarter millennium sovereign, secure, and prosperous. We aim to keep it that way! 🇺🇸

Hay diplomáticos que observan desde fuera y otros que entienden desde dentro.
Christopher Landau pertenece a la segunda categoría, y eso lo vuelve tan útil para Washington como incómodo para México.
Gracias por leerme👇🏻

The whole point of multilateral institutions is to advance the interests of sovereign nation states, but lately such institutions seem intent on undermining the very sovereignty of the nations that created them. As far as I’m aware, no country has voted for open borders/mass migration but multilateral institutions promote those policies nonetheless. Not on our watch!

Last week, the United States refused to participate in the UN’s review of the Global Compact on Migration. The United States objects to the Global Compact on Migration and UN efforts to facilitate replacement migration to the United States and our Western allies.

One of the real pleasures of my job has been representing @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @SecRubio at presidential inaugurations abroad. I’m here in San José heading the 🇺🇸 delegation celebrating Costa Rica’s vibrant and enduring democracy as Laura Fernández @laurapresi2026 takes office. We had a great meeting to reaffirm the strong ties between our countries. ¡Felicitaciones Presidente! 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇷

@USinTT This seems like a great format for addressing common consular questions. Kudos to Embassy Port of Spain! 🇺🇸🇹🇹

Question: My nephew is in Form Four and is interested in studying in the United States. I plan to assist him with the expenses. How does he apply for a student visa and demonstrate how his educational expenses will be covered?

My visit to Algeria last week highlighted the potential to deepen commercial and economic ties between our two countries, especially in the energy and agricultural sectors. One exciting project is being spearheaded by Baladna, a Qatari company building the world’s largest integrated dairy facility in the Algerian desert. As part of that project, they’ve committed to buy 30,000 American cows from 9 states. I can’t even imagine what the flights will be like to transport all those cows from the US to Algeria! Great project for both countries. 🇺🇸🐄🇩🇿

The US’ oldest and newest diplomatic properties are now both located in the Kingdom of Morocco 🇲🇦. The oldest is the American Legation in Tangier, which was gifted to our government by the Sultan in 1821, while the newest is a gleaming steel and glass Consulate General in Casablanca’s dynamic financial district. I had the honor of participating in the inauguration ceremony during my recent visit, along with my friend @USAmbMorocco Duke Buchan III, Consul General Marissa Scott, and distinguished representatives of the Moroccan government. Past, present, and future of US diplomacy merge in Morocco! 🇺🇸🤝🇲🇦

It was a great meeting! As we discussed, there is incredible potential to harness US private companies’ technological prowess to develop Algeria’s agricultural sector. I’m very excited by some of the projects underway and we are only just beginning. I look forward to continuing to work with you to connect US businesses with Algeria. 🇺🇸🇩🇿

Met with U.S. Deputy Secretary @ChrisLandauUSA to advance 🇩🇿🇺🇸 cooperation in agriculture. Strong potential in desert farming, mechanization & irrigation, toward partnerships focused on innovation, value creation, and food security.

Excellent meeting this afternoon with my friend Nasser Bourita, the highly respected and insightful Foreign Minister of Morocco. We discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, and I reaffirmed US recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and support for Morocco’s Autonomy Proposal as the basis for a just and lasting solution. I was delighted to witness Morocco’s accession as the 64th member of the Artemis Accords, which promote responsible space 🚀 exploration. Our two nations have been friends for almost 250 years, and I’m honored to reaffirm that friendship here in Morocco. 🇺🇸🤝

In 1793, President George Washington dispatched a diplomatic envoy to negotiate a treaty of amity and commerce with the dey of Algiers, which was signed two years later. It was a great honor for me to follow in these venerable footsteps by visiting Algeria this week. The government rolled out the red carpet, and I met with the President and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Hydrocarbons, Mining, and Agriculture to discuss substantial investment and commercial opportunities and mutual security concerns, as well as the situation in the Western Sahara. There is vast upside potential to deepen the bilateral relationship for the benefit of both our peoples. We look forward to welcoming the Algerian national team to the World Cup this summer! 🇺🇸⚽️🇩🇿
