The cost of getting to South Africa at short notice for a URC QF is becoming clear for Cardiff. A supporters trip organised for £3k per person 😳 The players and staff having to travel in two groups; one direct to Cape Town and the other via Johannesburg 🥴

@DewiJoseph1968 Hi Dewi, unfortunately, this service was amended due to a train blocking the railway. If you arrive at your destination 15 minutes or more later than planned, you can claim compensation at delayrepay.gwr.com - Gordon

@daisychristo I agree that VAR is broken but (obviously) today I think they got it right. Whatever the decision it was going to have a massive impact on one club or the other and I think the time taken was, in this case, an earnest attempt to get it right.

Just on my way back from West Ham. VAR is so broken it is unbelievable. It is Cardinal Richelieu refereeing. If you scrutinise a slow motion replay of the typical corner kick chaos of this season, you will find all the fouls you want to find. At least we won’t have it in the Championship next season.

@bignorms Why is it acceptable for football players to constantly cheat? Must be an absolute nightmare to referee a game.

@OllieHolt22 The elephant in the room is the constant cheating that happens in football. Im struggling to thing of any other sport where there is this level of unethical behaviour. Most sports disintegrate into a mess if you don't respect other players and the officials.

It was a foul on David Raya. VAR made the correct decision. VAR is a terrible way to decide a game of this magnitude for both teams. All these things can be true at the same time.

@kevinsamuel @baz959 @simonrug I find most if not all rugby players are very generous with their time. Sounds like you might have caught him at a bad time. I always found him a lovely and unassuming gentlemen.

“He’s just a great human being. He’s so humble, but then he’s a world class player. That’s quite a rarity in modern day sport, to get somebody as humble as that, but be as high profile as he is. He is one of the best in the business." nation.cymru/sport/bkt-urc-…

@kevinsamuel @baz959 @simonrug Phil Bennett was a wonderful and kind man. I met him a few times and he was always lovely and down to earth. Its a shame you feel you have to denigrate him.

@baz959 @simonrug When I was a 15 I sat next to Phil Bennett at a U16s international at the old AP. I asked for an autograph and he asked me to wait until the end of the game. He left a couple of mins early so I followed him and he literally ran away rather than sign for me. Never forgave him.

Great Western Railways services will transfer into public ownership from 13 December 2026. This is another significant moment as this Labour government continues to bring our railway back into public ownership and put passengers first, not shareholders.

I flew on Air Force One. I'm here to talk about the food. I’m not a foodie. I don’t have a go-to restaurant critic or strong opinions about tasting menus. But what I do have is a genuine, almost embarrassing enthusiasm for the meals served aboard AF1. My food review as a 🧵 1/7:

For those still frothing at the `French directors', read Rob Kitson in The Guardian. Superb stuff. If it was a bad day for anyone it wasn't the referee or even French TV, it was over-exited punditry. Miles had a good commentary by focusing on the facts not the perfidious French..

What a player. Really hard to think of a better era for Welsh Rugby than 05 to 21. I know people will go straight back to the 70’s etc and golden era, but in time I think people will come to realise this generation was one of the very best vintages across the British Isles. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

@GWRHelp Instead of having to apologise on a regular basis why not operate a normal service? Due to there only being 5 carriages there are no seat reservations as well. Its an ongoing problem and no amount of being sorry sorts the underlying issues out.

So strategy is not deliverable. In the short or medium time, two years of our lives and immeasurable damage to the brand of Welsh rugby. Incredible, just incredible.

Y11 deal off. Cardiff will remain owned by the WRU. Ospreys and Scarlets both offered the 2025 PRA deal. Four teams to continue for the next two seasons. WRU still want to cut to three after that. Ospreys' supporters will be the happiest of all of the parties.

Y11 purchase of Cardiff off, with Ospreys and Scarlets to be offered the opportunity to sign the PRA25. But the WRU insists a cut to three teams is still the way forward by the end of the 27-28 season and that a plan to get there will be announced by June.

I’ve been trying to think of 80s and 90s cricketers who missed out on the franchise revolution, but who may have been big money players (if they’d had the chance). So far I’ve got: Sir Viv Richards Sir Curtly Ambrose Courtney Walsh Sir Ian Botham Darren Gough Graham Gooch Robin Smith Kapil Dev Anil Kumble Mohammad Azharuddin Allan Donald Lance Klusener Javed Miandad Saeed Anwar Imran Khan Wasim Akram Waqar Younis Who have I missed out?
