Right everyone, I've made the executive decision to not be nervous today. Simple.

@teacherhead We can all think of those moments with VAR, and I'm not sure that the argument, "Yes it's a foul but there but there are loads of fouls at corners" isn't the best argument. If he hadn't grabbed the keepers arm from above it probably wouldn't have been given. Once you see that...

Just on my way back from West Ham. VAR is so broken it is unbelievable. It is Cardinal Richelieu refereeing. If you scrutinise a slow motion replay of the typical corner kick chaos of this season, you will find all the fouls you want to find. At least we won’t have it in the Championship next season.

@daisychristo I thought of you instantly the goal was chalked off though. I really hope you stay up, but if the worst happens, smash the Championship and come back in 27/28.

@daisychristo I agree that VAR is broken but (obviously) today I think they got it right. Whatever the decision it was going to have a massive impact on one club or the other and I think the time taken was, in this case, an earnest attempt to get it right.

Declan Rice has been very good for Arsenal but no better than Jordan Henderson was for Liverpool when they won the league but because Arsenal don't have a Salah or Mane people are running around throwing him into Ballon d'Or and POTY conversations.
Sam Dean@SamJDean

With respect to my colleagues in the football writing industry, I am stunned that Bruno Fernandes has been named FWA Footballer of the Year instead of Declan Rice. Rice has literally won more matches this season (35) than Fernandes has even played (34). telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

@RohanJivanAFC I was the same in my 20s. Now I rather enjoy the view from the upper tier halfway line.

Random but yeah I’ve never liked sitting in upper tier. Never have. Just don’t like sitting down when watching The Arsenal Lower tier and being able to stand >>>>> Just feel like I’m way more involved. Trade off is the view but I’m never fussed about that as I don’t care about the details on first viewing. First viewing is about being the fan for me. And lower tier will always be where the noise is, regarding the Emirates that is.

Is there a way we can fast track Merino’s recovery?? Get someone to give him the famous Mr Miyagi treatment?

@rorysutherland Blue Peter didn't say sticky back plastic for sellotape, they said, "I'm using sticky tape for speed". It was sticky tape. Sticky back plastic was something else.

@peterboghossian There was a programme here in the UK called "How Clean is your House" where two women went in to a family house and cleaned the whole place up. They'd go back at the end a few weeks later when it was still fine but looking a year on, nearly 100% had gone back to their old ways.

@daisychristo People make the same point about having a good music curriculum. 1930s Germany had one of the best in history.

Hitler was incredibly well-read. The people who voted for him were well-read by modern standards. Ditto Franco and Salazar. The idea that reading is an inoculation against fascism just doesn't hold water. I love reading, my day job involves assessing reading and writing, and I think it's incredibly important. But we still need some perspective about what it can and cannot do!
