Short satire/horror combining live-action with a whole host of Al tools took about two months (lots of visual gags and sound design) and was a hell of a learning experience! The ending is a lil raunchy but…..tasteful? I think? You tell me?

I just finished watching a number of truly excellent short AI films in the @runwayml AI film festival, and I am honestly blown away by the level of quality. If this crop of creative filmmakers is any barometer of where things are going, buckle up because cinema is leaping ahead.

Most AI shorts are derivative, dystopian and violent/nihilistic. They offer no new visions, no new ideas and therefore they are a continuation of the slop Hollywood has been feeding us for decades. We need storytellers willing to create new kinds of stories, set in new kinds of worlds where there’s still conflict but we can see and feel a new possibility for humanity.

@AVARY This is so real… have seen great projects die simply because lawyers refused to talk to each other. The system does all it can to crush those dreams!

Deal lethargy is perplexing but has gradually become the status quo. I remember the days of a quick CofA and payment within a week. These days it takes half a year, with signature drafts sometimes never coming. The screenplay is often completed before the long form contract. There doesn’t seem to be any urgency in business affairs anymore to do their job. I had a deal at one studio that never came to fruition as a result. I looked up the apathetic business affairs council and discovered that he was a former divorce attorney, which explained everything.

@GianmarcoSoresi @CleotisBonde I think if he had the ABILITY to laugh at himself, things would probably be slightly better. just any indication of humanity/emotional intelligence/detachment from ego. Any of those things existing in him=slightly better now, in some way

@CleotisBonde Idk I think people would have thought of it as such if Trump had done it But per the point about laughing at yourself, that feels like such a small part of a larger lack of humility. I don’t think if Trump laughed at himself it would somehow make things better

For the last few years, the flavor of the moment has been Matcha. Before that, it was Truffles. Now it’s Ube. I’m betting on Pandan next. Coming soon to your coffee and matcha latte.

I say this with so much affection for the show… doing an earnest “is Mythos overhyped or actually dangerous?” segment, landing on the latter (hard) then rolling straight into an Anthropic ad read… is either the most 2026 oversight of all time or the most honest thing in media.

Then, Seth Goldstein helps unpack @Tesla’s first-quarter earnings. Finally, Ed gives his take on what the next chapter of the Iran war looks like.  Sherri Davidoff (@SherriDavidoff) is the Founder of LMG Security and co-host of the podcast Cyberside Chats. Stop putting it on Fight Coordinators! For the most part — especially on big studio projects — Stunt/Fight Coordinators’ input isn’t taken seriously when it comes to how a fight should be shot/edited. To my understanding, production fixed that approach coming into MKII.
The Moonlight Warrior 🌙@BlackMajikMan90

Did the Scorpion vs Sub Zero fights have completely different fight choreographers and editors? Because they are easily several steps above every other fight in this movie.

@FussyPastor @sevenout @higgsfield @freepik @runwayml I’ve been able to find ways around it via prompt modification for the most part, and we’re making some very weird, gross stuff. I guess it depends on content, but I haven’t had as much trouble with censorship on runway in comparison with other platforms like Higgs or midjourney

I recently switched from @higgsfield to @freepik due to Higgy's shit business practices like bait and switching unlimited access. First thing I encounter, them taking away the entire reason I subscribed with them... Thanks for telling me "what I need" is to be monetized more.

HBO sending push notifications saying “don’t be the last to see the rooster!!” Like what the fuck is the rooster and who is watching it and what a sad and desperate attempt to hijack my amygdala. Traditional media is fast becoming a pale imitation of its asshole younger brother, social media.

In 1971, psychologist Edward Deci paid college students to solve a puzzle, and
it made them stop wanting to solve it. When the payments stopped, the paid group stopped trying. The unpaid group kept playing. Two years later, another study found something similar in preschoolers: kids who already liked drawing were promised a reward, and later drew less once it was gone. We’ve known for a while that rewards don’t just encourage behavior, they can start to replace what drives it. Which makes these “gamify your life” ideas a little harder to take at face value. I’ve been treated for ADHD since I was a kid. My dopamine-starved brain would LOVE something like this. But it also trains you to rely more on the same reward circuitry every platform already exploits…
the part of you that needs constant stimulation to stay engaged. Useful in the short term, absolutely. Also a little unsettling to keep building around the most easily manipulated part of your own mind.
