We're excited to shine our #ACTRAspotlight today on the hotly-anticipated ROBYN HOOD, which premieres tonight on @GlobalTV! This new series re-imagines a thousand years of legend for the present day. Robyn Loxley is a young Black woman whose masked band “The Hood” is known for their inventive videos and anti-authoritarian message. She lives in “Sherwood Towers”, a cluster of rental highrises in a working-class corner of New Nottingham, a near-fi city where the cost of living has skyrocketed, leaving an ever-widening gap between the rich and everyone else. When Robyn finds herself fighting for her home and her family against local property developer John Prince and The Sheriff of New Nottingham, Robyn and her band The Hood decide to take the law into their own hands: using their masked secret identities to steal from the 1% elite who now control their city and give back to their community. The series features a stellar cast of ACTRA Toronto Members including Lisa Michelle Cornelius, Kira Guloien, Kayla Hutton, Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, Sydney Kuhne, Jonathan Langdon, Ian Matthews, Nykeem Provo, Idrissa Sanogo Bamba, and Stunt Coordinator Angelica Lisk-Hann. Jully is a platinum-selling and JUNO award-winning recording artist and Canada’s Walk of Fame inductee, amongst many other roles.⁠ ⁠ Tonya received the Visionary Award for her exceptional leadership, contagious tenacity, innovation, activism, and fierce dedication to uplifting communities of colour.
