@EChatav @intothefuture45 @Babygravy9 Superheroes don't exist, so there's no objective reality to verify against. If the sculptors were just imagining things, they were imagining things that ended up being real, so how were they so accurate

My favourite commentary on the Riace Bronzes will always be Mary Beard's, in a BBC show she did about five years ago. After admiring the statues she turns to the camera and says, "but of course these are totally idealised physiques that simply weren't possible before steroids."
Beyond the Cosmic Veil@ClassicalAegis

The Riace Bronzes are over 2,400 years old. A scuba diver discovered them off the coast of Riace, lying on the seabed about 8 meters deep. They remain one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century.

@intothefuture45 @Babygravy9 How did Disney represent an anthropomorphic mouse with little gloves on? Have you ever seen paintings and then seen a photo of the model it was based on? Artists are pretty creative.

rich of hanania to lecture "incels" about the beauty standards of white women when he himself married an asian (super easy level for a reason) some of the women pictured are 6/10 at best, extremely average. most are ugly/fat. like come on lol.
Richard Hanania@RichardHanania

Love this, and love the incels in the replies being like no, these are fives. Go walk outside. These women are well above average. You’re going to need to be well above average to have a shot. Porn and supermodels have just warped men’s expectations.

This is what an above average group of 7/10 American girls looks like. They're business students from a very good school (which already raises the average by a lot) They also have significantly below national average BMI. They gonna be top 15% earners. So, in order to looks and status match with them, you should be about 6 feet tall, be in decent shape, dress well, and earn about $150k. The numbers don't lie.

“We don’t live in a high trust society” >test society >high trust wins >test again >trust wins >test again >trust wins “Well obviously they’re all lying”
Rock Solid@ShitpostRock2

High trust society is when you put your life on the line and hope that some stranger 10,000km away chooses the same illogical retarded option as you The entire point is that most societies are NOT high trust and will vote for their own interest. Don't trust them with your life

@_D_dot_ This game has nothing to do with trust. If real, it's an IQ test. As stated, with no real stakes, it's a liar test.

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

The Greens will raise the minimum wage to £15 for all workers 💪

Did you know that the amount of money that the LADoT bus system generates from fare collection is - wait for it - the about the same as it costs to enforce that fare collection. They cancel each other out! At that point, buses may as well be free. 🚏🚌 So that’s exactly what I’m going to do. As mayor, I’ll make LADoT buses free as a part of my plan to improve public transit citywide saving money for both Los Angeles and all the people in it. 🌞

This is what chuds done told you when the book was released. "Abundance" was destined to fail because they're in coalition with people who benefit from decreased state capacity, less free markets, and rent seeking labor organizations.
Richard Hanania@RichardHanania

Why listening to Ezra and Derek reflecting on abundance made me pessimistic. They want a movement that builds things. But in their coalition is a huge faction that hates business, the people who build things! It's a wild contradiction.

Red and blue button pushers: who's smarter? In a mostly-subscriber sample who took a brief verbal IQ test, the answer is... Blue pushers! If the whole population has an IQ of 100 with an SD of 15, their mean IQ would be 101.9, versus 97.0 for reds.
