This is actually a classic bad faith move by a business, and the correct response is to decline and negotiate. The moment they told him he wasn't ready, he should have started job hunting. What that really means is "we don't want you to quit because we need you but we're never going to promote you." The days of "proving yourself" are gone. Businesses rarely reward that. Instead, they'll just grind you up.

@TWilsonOttawa The NFA had some sort of hostile takeover of their leadership many years ago and it became very obvious that the organization is a train wreck. I stopped supporting them at that time.

I’m going to be honest. I’m more than a little shocked to read this post, most of which is factually inaccurate. There’s a whole host of people/groups/applicants who fought this thing in court, all the way and never gave up. They weren’t one of them. This goes way beyond embellishing their role in the lower court and the role of their attorney. They filed an application, sat back for 4 years, declined doing cross examinations, injunctions or opposing intervenors like the CGC, then showed up for a half day at the end. Friedman congratulated us for our efforts. The irony of calling for “unity” while at the same time minimizing the monumental efforts of our legal team and millions of dollars spent by our supporters, isn’t lost on me. Never mind the endless criticism of us for continuing the battle. Getting a better government elected? They spent $187.23 as 3rd party political advertisers in the last election. No joke. They just can’t help themselves. This is why it’s impossible to work together. I can’t sit by and say nothing on this one. Shameless.
Canada's National Firearms Association@CanadasNFA

We were the first to take this fight to Federal Court—representing Cassie Parker and KKS Tactical as lead applicants. All other challenges were later consolidated into our case. Under the leadership of our lawyer, Solomon Friedman—one of Canada’s most respected firearms legal minds and a licensed owner himself—we mounted a serious challenge to the 2020 OIC. When the case was dismissed, we made the difficult decision not to appeal, based on Friedman’s advice that the odds of success were slim and the financial burden too great for our membership to risk. There was also concern the government’s goal was to financially exhaust opposition to their ‘gun grab.’ Instead, we chose a different path: disrupting the legislation through policy work, launching programs to shield as many firearms as possible from destruction (see: nfa.ca/save-firearms-… ), and pursuing a political solution—educating lawmakers and working to elect a government that respects Canada’s firearms community. Other groups continued with the legal process after our decision not to appeal, and have now received a final decision that does not favour lawful firearms owners. While we’ve had our differences, we sincerely regret this outcome. We believe unity and strategic thinking are key to preserving our rights. The courts didn’t deliver the result we all hoped for—but the fight is far from over. The path forward is clearer than ever: if we want to preserve our rights and freedoms, we need to elect a government that respects them—and that means voting Conservative in this upcoming Federal Election. #CanadaGuns #FirearmsCanada #TrudeauMustGo #CanadaHunts #C21 #GunGrab #CDNPoli #CanPol #CanadaFreedom #Poilievre #PoilievreforPM #Carney #MarkCarney #Elxn2025 #CDNPoli

@RevIsaacWirtz It's concerning that no atheist has mentioned that their conscience tells them that it's a bad thing. Christians understand that our conscience is a gift from God, who has written his laws on our hearts. If you ignore your conscience, it dulls it and allows sin's effects to grow.

Christian Combatives 🦬@RevIsaacWirtz·
There are 3 defenses I have seen for this: 1. It's yucky 2. It's taboo/illegal 3. It's unhealthy None of these answer why it is morally wrong, which is the question. So many of the atheists will turn around and try to accuse the Christian of being unable to have any good reason except God's law to prevent them from this act. But this merely dodges the question, the Christians already established that God's law is the source of morality, those above 3 defenses are also reasons why Christians would avoid this in addition to it being immoral. But of those 3 defenses, the first is just preference, the second is just a consensus of ethics (lots of bad stuff in the past used to be legal), and the third is a practical consideration but not a moral one. So the question again is, how does an atheist make a moral argument against this action? A MORAL one, one that says "You ought not do this, even if it's desirable, legal, and safe"?
Rock Solid@ShitpostRock

The best logical fallacy to give an atheist when discussing morals is to ask them why it's morally wrong to have intercourse with roadkill It's dead it will not feel anything, nobody will know and there are no victims If you ask a Christian or Buddhist why it's morally wrong, they will tell you it's because the body retains inherent dignity as part of God's creation (or the sacred flow of life), and desecrating it violates divine/natural order, harms your soul/karma, and shows disrespect, even if no one feels it or knows An atheistic worldview of this question taken to its extreme, concludes that intercourse with roadkill is tantamount to masturbation and nothing more

@gildmirth @memeticsisyphus What is the real difference between fear of your peers and fear of God? If you hide your bad deeds well enough, then your peers won't hurt you, but you can't hide your bad deeds from God. If the atheist hid away while they raped the dead animal, then it must be fine, right?

@Joshua_FFahey @grok @t_cantwell @5Solas @swamthetiber25 This was obviously Martin Luther's analysis, but it's interesting to read those other references as well. Maybe there's some debate to be had on this particular point. I'm going to go read the passages Grok mentioned to get more context. Peace be with you, brother.

@Joshua_FFahey @grok @t_cantwell @5Solas @swamthetiber25 Oh that's an interesting question and answer from Grok. When I was learning from Luther's Small Catechism, it explained that during the Apostles' Creed, we say "I believe" and not "We believe" because "no one can be saved by another's faith." With references from Hab, Luke, Matt.

Why do we baptize infants? In Baptism, we are washed clean of all sin and reborn by the Holy Spirit (2 Cor 5:17; Acts 2:38). We are brought into God’s family, adopted as his children, and welcomed forever, just as infants were circumcised in the Old Covenant to belong to God’s people (Gen 17:12; Col 2:11–12; 1 Pet 3:21). We are clothed in Christ, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and filled with grace (Rom 8:15–16; Gal 3:26–27; Eph 1:13–14; Titus 3:5), We are made part of God’s family from the very start, even if we are too young or unable, such as mentally handicapped to understand. (Acts 16:15; Acts 16:33; 1 Cor 1:16; Matt 19:14). All sin is forgiven. Original sin and personal sin are wiped away. Peter says we are baptized for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38), and Paul is told to be baptized and wash away his sins (Acts 22:16). Jesus teaches that entry into the kingdom requires being born of water and the Spirit (John 3:5) and links salvation to Baptism itself (Mk 16:16). We become adopted as sons and daughters of God (Rom 8:15; Gal 4:5), filled with sanctifying grace and given new life in Christ (John 3:5; Titus 3:5; 2 Pet 1:4) In Baptism, we are joined to Christ. We die with him and rise with him, starting a new life in him (Rom 6:3–4). We are brought into Christ and his Church and receive an indelible mark on our soul that can never be erased, a permanent sign that we belong to God’s family.
5 Solas@5Solas

Some Reasons Baptists Do Not Baptize Infants: 1. In every New Testament command and instance of baptism the requirement of faith precedes baptism. So infants incapable of faith are not to be baptized. 2. There are no explicit instances of infant baptism in all the Bible. In the three “household baptisms” mentioned (household of Lydia, Acts 16:15; household of the Philippian jailer, Acts 16:30–33; household of Stephanus, 1 Corinthians 1:16) no mention is made of infants, and in the case of the Philippian jailer, Luke says explicitly, “They spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house” (Acts 16:32), implying that the household who were baptized could understand the Word. 3. Paul (in Colossians 2:12) explicitly defined baptism as an act done through faith: “…having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God.” In baptism you were raised up with Christ through faith – your own faith, not your parents’ faith. If it is not “through faith” – if it is not an outward expression of inward faith – it is not baptism. 4. The apostle Peter, in his first letter, defined baptism this way, “…not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience – through the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21). Baptism is “an appeal to God for a good conscience.” It is an outward act and expression of inner confession and prayer to God for cleansing, that the one being baptized does, not his parents. 5. When the New Testament church debated in Acts 15 whether circumcision should still be required of believers as part of becoming a Christian, it is astonishing that not once in that entire debate did anyone say anything about baptism standing in the place of circumcision. If baptism is the simple replacement of circumcision as a sign of the new covenant, and thus valid for children as well as for adults, as circumcision was, surely this would have been the time to develop the argument and so show that circumcision was no longer necessary. But it is not even mentioned. —John Piper

@swamthetiber25 I was baptized last month as an adult. My Pastor explained to me that baptism is something that is done to you and for you. To be offered up to Christ as one of his servants. So that's why our church believes in doing it for children as well.
