I keep saying it, by the time this @UKLabour government has finished there will be nothing left. Now it’s jury trials. One of the oldest protections in British justice. And all three Doncaster MPs; @Ed_Miliband @LeePitcherMP and Sally Jameson voted to scrap them. They don’t care. They never have. By the time this Labour government has finished, there will be nothing left.

The @Telegraph says solar could see @Ed_Miliband lose his seat. For many people across Doncaster, they believe he’s already lost it. He didn’t choose Doncaster because of some deep connection. He chose it because, for years, it was one of the safest Labour seats in the country. That’s the reality, a safe seat he could rely on, knowing people would keep voting @UKLabour regardless. Those days are over. People here feel ignored. They see decisions pushed through from London with little regard for local communities, farmland, businesses, or the character of our countryside. When voters speak and aren’t listened to, they eventually speak louder, at the ballot box. Doncaster has changed. Labour’s grip has gone. £30M. NEW MONEY? SADLY NOT. Nobody wants this airport open more than I do. Let’s be clear — this Labour-run council refused to back our airport when it mattered. I secured £30 million for a rail link to boost its future. Now, desperate for votes, the South Yorkshire Mayor is raiding that rail link fund — plus every penny of Doncaster’s Gainshare money — to cobble together a £145 million rescue plan… just to cover their own failure. Meanwhile, Sheffield continues to get the lion’s share of the cash, for their trams as usual, and Doncaster taxpayers are going to be landed with a further £10 million debt. (£105m + £30m + £10m). This is political con-artistry dressed up as investment. It’s vote-buying with our own stolen money. And they’ve got the nerve to roll this out during purdah when they shouldn’t be making these announcements at all. This isn’t ‘free’, the Government is forcing taxpayers to fund something parents should be doing. Families should be eating breakfast together as it’s often the only meal they can all be present for. If parents can’t afford to feed their children, that’s a different problem.

The push to separate children from their parents and spend even more hours away from home is not going to ‘improve their life chances’. A government that truly cared about children’s wellbeing would enable families to spend more time together, not less.
