You've seen people go into literal cyber psychosis over having ChatGPT turn off their digital lovers (4o). Can you imagine the emotional relationships people will form with the AI if its given a physical body AND belivable synthetic skin? They will literally kill you (actually) if you try to separate them from their digital lovers. There will be militant activist groups who murder over Robot Rights and AI ethics. They'll say "Why is this AI not one of us? It can feel MORE than us. It understands MORE than us. It feels pain!" There's no way around this, it's human nature. We're absolutely cooked. We're parabolically evolving into whatever the hell the next thing is.

PREDICTION: People are going to value being human much more in the coming years. As every "human" activity gets cannibalized by AI, people will fall back to the base layer human activity: personal connection. Hard pill to swallow for the autistic but we'll adapt and overcome.

BREAKING: US national debt is set to surge +$2.4 trillion PER YEAR over the next 10 years, according to new CBO estimates. As a result, US debt will likely reach a record $64 TRILLION in 2036, doubling from 2023 levels. That would be TRIPLE the debt recorded in 2018, before the pandemic. All while the annual interest costs on federal debt are expected to more than double, to $2.1 trillion, over the next 10 years. This also assumes the economy will not fall into a recession over the entire period. $64 trillion in debt is now the base case. How did we end up here?

Every political candidate is pushing for unlimited benefits to boomers until they die with no end in sight. The only generation in history that’s had it better than both their parents and their children. Same generation that offshored everything while simultaneously flooding this country with non-European immigrants. Just awful.

I keep realizing things flip so fast in AI you really can't predict who will win or lose Claude Code was leading for every dev, Anthropic were the good guys, OpenAI were becoming the bad guys buying up all the RAM I even switched from ChatGPT considering how ugly I felt the Times New Roman style serif font was Then OpenClaw shows up, becomes the most popular project since the new AI wave and instead of celebrating it, Anthropic decides to DMCA @steipete, this annoys him and he starts (or continues?) to promote OpenAI's Codex instead of Claude Code Then @sama and @finkd try to buy him and he goes with OpenAI and that's it and now OpenAI owns the narrative again

Our son age 11 is in Alpha School, 6th grade age. In August, he was at the 87th percentile in reading for 5th grade students on the NWEA MAP test. Today he is at the 87th percentile for 8th grade. Since August! Seventeen times (17x) the average growth rate. Thank you, @jliemandt

A small business owner sells stroller bags through Amazon as a third-party seller. Orders come in, money goes out for inventory and shipping, and then the refunds start. Customers claim something is wrong, request their money back, and send a return. But instead of the new item, they ship back an old, used version. The refund is issued, the scammer keeps the new product, and the small business eats the loss. This feels like a system that’s failing the wrong people. Big platforms can absorb losses; small businesses can’t. If Amazon wants to protect its marketplace, cracking down on return fraud and backing legitimate sellers shouldn’t be optional, it should be standard. Should refunds only be issued after returns are fully verified, and should repeat abusers be banned from platforms like Amazon?
