BREAKING @GBNEWS: Seven men, who are all Afghan nationals and refugees, have been charged with 40 offences after an investigation into an alleged grooming gang in Norwich. Five of the men arrived illegally in Britain by small boat; two by lorry. All of the men have been in the country for several years. One arrived illegally as early as 2020. The charges relate to two victims, who were in their early-to-mid teens at the time of the alleged offences.

Even France only approves c. 40%-50% Crucially, UK approves those who were REFUSED in EU countries The EU average is 36%, almost HALF our 60%-65%. The Home Office's high approval rating is a major pull factor. A significant percentage of certain nationalities (Eritreans, Afghans, Sudanese, Iraqis etc.) apply for asylum in the UK after having their applications rejected by other European nations Disgraceful for the Home Office to try to put a positive spin on this. There is no reason the UK can't be more like Portugal - other than a lack of political and civil service will.

Makerfield is not a plaything for professional politicians. We don't need someone using us as a springboard for their political career. What we need is a new hospital, sensible housebuilding, and an MP who lives and breathes this area.

Sarah Rogers said Brits make up the clear majority of visitors to a VPN landing page set up by the White House last year to help users circumvent the UK’s censorious online laws. They’re trying to build 400 houses on Winstanley’s green belt. That’s 1000 extra cars on the roads & 1000 more people using infrastructure that doesn’t exist. As MP for Makerfield, I will fully support restoring Winstanley Hall, but strongly oppose the rest of this development.

CHAGOS SURRENDER UPDATE I have always maintained that Lord @Vernon_Coaker, a Labour patriot in the Ernest Bevin tradition, is privately embarrassed by the Chagos surrender that he is regularly obliged to defend as a defence minister. Pressed just now on it by his Tory shadow, Lord @MartinCallanan, he did something that he never does, and read word for word from a written briefing note. It was the only way the poor fellow could convey Starmer’s position without choking on his words. I’ll say it again, this deal is doomed. It has almost no support on the government benches. The first thing a new Labour leader does will surely be to ditch it and back a policy of official resettlement.
