For those especially enlightened people condemning anyone for posing with “instruments of death”: the device Senator Graham was holding in his hands was specifically developed and is actively used to intercept those very instruments of death that your beloved Russia sends by the hundreds every night toward Ukrainian cities: Iranian-designed Shahed-136 drones, each carrying up to 90 kg of explosives intended for Ukrainian homes. So kindly go fuck yourselves.

It is truly disappointing to see an elected official treat a former party member with such mockery. Every member, especially one who feels compelled to resign out of dissatisfaction, deserves to be heard rather than ridiculed. Engaging in sarcasm instead of addressing valid concerns about party democracy only widens the gap between the leadership and those they represent. @LabourParty is it acceptable for an elected official to behave in this manner towards members? Frankly, such behaviour might be expected from a member of the Reform Party, but it is entirely unbecoming of a member of the Labour Party. I hope that when the next election comes around, the voters make it clear to you exactly what they think of this attitude. #LabourParty #PoliticalAccountability #DemocracyMatters #CroydonLabour #PublicService #KindnessEconomy #GrassrootsVoice #PartyDemocracy #Accountability

I'd hoped a leadership contest would give us the opportunity for a proper debate. But months of internal Labour politics isn't what the country needs right now. We've got to get on with the job. @AndyBurnham's earned this and he's got my full backing. Our job now as a Labour team is to help him succeed, because the country needs him to... 🫡

When I first started reading your post, @JakeBenRichards , the first thing that crossed my mind was that Andy tried to become leader twice and failed both times. It seems the only way for him to become leader was through this 'coup' and conspiracy, pulling high-ranking MPs along with him rather than the actual members, forcing Starmer to resign with the backing of barely 100 MPs. And now you are trying to convince us that this is something we must support because of the Reform Party? Let me tell you the results of the recent local elections and what is actually happening on the ground over the last two weeks. Out of 13 key local by-elections held on 25 June and 2 July, Farage's Reform UK lost convincingly in 10 of them. Look at the facts: Ealing (North Acton) and Brighton (Goldsmid): The Greens wiped out the competition, with Reform finishing at the bottom with barely 7% to 9% of the vote. Cirencester Park: The Liberal Democrats held the seat with over 58% of the vote, whilst Reform was left in third place. Powys (Glantwymyn): Plaid Cymru took nearly 82% of the vote, with Reform getting just 10%. Bolton and Denbighshire: Citizens chose local independent candidates instead. I know very well that local elections are not the same as a 'general election'. But a clear parallel can be drawn because this shows that Reform is in a major decline. This narrative-building, where you in the Labour Party present Farage as the next PM and the Reform Party as a massive threat, is only meant to serve you to discipline voters. It is a lie. It is a completely manufactured narrative created within the Labour Party, which the media then supported for entirely different reasons of their own. Stop trying to scare us with false choices. Do not look for transparent excuses for what you have done in the Labour Party. For the simple reason, it is not democratic. Every future leader must be endorsed by the members and not in this manner, which was executed as a conspiracy and a stab in the back. #UKPolitics #LabourParty #Democracy #LocalElections #ReformUK #PoliticalIntegrity #TruthInPolitics

What an unusual coup. You do a deal with a local MP where you get his job with the prospect he can then work for you, causing £5m in by elections. You then topple the Prime Minister, and decide - before you're even in charge - to move the country's seat of power to... your own back yard in a *£1 billion* campus you and two of your friends have 'been working' on 'for a long time'. And the friends you worked on that with? One of them was deputy to the guy you just toppled, with the full inside track, and the other you're currently trying to help into your old job.
Lucy Powell MP@LucyMPowell

Bev Craig, with a bit of help from me, and Andy have been working for a long time on the Digital Campus which finally got the green light a few months ago. On Great Ancoats Street in New Islington. Delighted (not least as it near my office) that this will be home of No 10 North!

@NewStatesman Utter nonsense. He left because Corbyn thrashed him in the leadership election. He returned because his pals in the PLP saw an opportunity to install him without due process or a mandate. Everyone can see that. You're deluded.

Is it unreasonable to ask whether Lucy Powell, as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, should now account for the role she is alleged to have played in the removal of Sir Keir Starmer? If she actively encouraged Members of Parliament to withdraw their support from the elected Leader, or otherwise facilitated Andy Burnham's accession to the leadership, then it is surely legitimate for Labour members to ask whether such conduct is compatible with the responsibilities entrusted to the holder of the Party's second highest office. If there is evidence that the Party's rules have been breached, then those matters ought to be examined through the Party's established disciplinary procedures, impartially and without favour. More fundamentally, however, there is the question of political legitimacy. The Deputy Leader occupies a unique constitutional position within the Labour Party. That office exists not merely to exercise influence, but to support and uphold the leadership entrusted to the Party by its members. Where a Deputy Leader is perceived to have participated in, or acquiesced to, the removal of that elected leader, confidence in the office itself is inevitably called into question. For that reason alone, there is a compelling constitutional and democratic argument that Lucy Powell should seek a renewed mandate from Labour's membership. If she remains persuaded that her actions reflected both the interests and wishes of the Party, she should have no hesitation in submitting herself to the judgement of those who elected her. Such a contest would serve a wider purpose. It would provide Labour's membership with their first genuine opportunity to express a view upon the manner in which the Party's leadership changed hands. Should Ms Powell secure a renewed mandate, her authority would be strengthened accordingly. Should she fail to do so, the outcome would inevitably be interpreted as a verdict not merely upon her own position, but upon the process that elevated Andy Burnham to the leadership. Political parties rightly speak of accountability, transparency and democratic legitimacy. Those principles should apply no less within their own ranks than they do in government. If Labour believes in those values, then there is every reason why its Deputy Leader should now seek the explicit confidence of the Party's membership. Anything less risks leaving unanswered questions that will continue to cast a shadow over both her office and the circumstances surrounding the Party's change of leadership.

Great to chat to @TomMcTague at @NewStatesman Politics Live event today - I talked about how we use this moment to drive culture change in the Labour Party so that we listen, respect and value the contribution of our whole movement not just one part of it.
