@Cecilia97N If the young man had committed any crime, he would have been arrested but not beaten up; but ofcos we have people like you who support mob justice from @PoliceUg. Hope one day you'll put your brain to use!

Bobiwine wants us to believe that under his government when a general directive is passed to the public and we disobey it as citizens the police will be giving us therapy sessions and and head to toe massages🙂🙂. That young man deserved the beating he got. If he didn’t want to get involved he would have stayed in his bed up to 10am like some people did and thought they were being “cool.”

What we witnessed today is an initiative that was started by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba . The government has now adopted it as official policy: a nationwide general cleaning exercise to be held on the last Saturday of every month. Thank you, Gen. Muhoozi, for leading by example.

@KamieGold @HEBobiwine What's there to celebrate? If beating up citizens is a sign of patriotism, then you need space in Butabika hospital.

There is a difference between holding government accountable and reducing every national initiative to a political talking point. If your public messaging about Uganda is almost exclusively negative, don’t be surprised when people question whether you’re cultivating patriotism or perpetual pessimism. When was the last time you publicly celebrated something good about Uganda?

The Ugandan regime at it again! Now using force and violence to enforce a "cleaning campaign"! Again, they've lost any ability to persuade so they have to coerce. Sad!

I’ve noticed that many of the responses are just insults. The bottom line is this: don’t incite security personnel unnecessarily. If you followed the nationwide cleaning exercise, you’ll have seen that only a handful of incidents involving arrests or beatings were reported, and in many of those cases there were people refusing to comply. I highly doubt the police officer in the video simply woke up with an appetite to assault a fellow citizen without any confrontation or escalation beforehand. While excessive force should never be justified, it’s also important not to ignore the role that defiance and provocation can play in situations like these.

This generation needs to understand authority and follow lawful orders. When you’re asked to participate in a community clean-up, it’s not the time to prove how powerful or defiant you are. Acting like a stubborn schoolchild doesn’t make you strong, it only shows a lack of discipline and civic responsibility.

Dictator Museveni we are not your slaves. You’re not the only person who can contribute towards Uganda. You came to power in 80s and of 2026 78% of the country population it’s under 35years. Every election your gangster side is amplified by shutting down internet, murdering opponents and rigging under military protection while lying to the world how Uganda has got democracy. The lwakhakha town council Engineer Namisindwa district , who fled to Kenya ahead of our accountability inspection, has been apprehended this morning through the joint efforts of our security agencies. He had been on the run over allegations of mismanagement of road funds in the district. I commend the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, ISO, CID, Uganda Police Force, UPDF and all other security agencies for their professionalism and swift action. I also thank all the armed forces, led by General @mkainerugaba, for their unwavering support towards this clean-up operation. Your commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability in local governments is greatly appreciated. We are still searching for the District Engneer, Commercial Officer and the District Production Officer. No one is above the law. All those responsible for the misuse of public resources will be brought to book. The fight against corruption in local governments is on, and we remain committed to ensuring accountability and value for every taxpayer’s shilling.

. @mkituuma "We have taken note of a viral video circulating on social media showing armed security officers firing shots into the air. The incident occurred on Monday, 20 July 2026, at about 6:00 p.m. in Nakivubo Cell, Nakasero III Ward, Kampala Central Business District (CBD). A team of security officers had gone to Original Kiseka Spare Centre in Kiseka Market to arrest suspected offenders. During the operation, a group of individuals turned violent and attempted to obstruct the lawful arrest of the suspects. In order to disperse the unruly crowd and restore order, the officers fired warning shots into the air. The situation was subsequently brought under control, and the officers successfully arrested two suspects.
