It is more beneficial for children to read the classics aimed at their season of life than to rush them into reading Homer or Plato. Do not rush children into the "great books."

The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans... The French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. Conclusion: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Yorkshire Church. If this was a mosque or synagogue, it would be all over the news and these people would be facing 5 years in jail. But it's a Christian church so… 🦗 .

@NotFarLeftAtAll The house itself looks not exactly spacious. In the winter dark and gales it would be hellish.

Mullagrach Island off the northwest of Scotland Britain's most secluded home on its own 89-acre remote UK island with no neighbours hits market … it’s all yours for just £350k. I could sell my tiny flat in north London and put the other 100k in the bank.. it’s ridiculous

Look around the town you grew up in. The post office is closed. The library is closed. The bank is closed. The pub on the corner is closed. The bins come once a fortnight. The roads are patched with patches. The streetlights go off at midnight. And your council tax has tripled. You pay more. You get less. Every year. Where did the money go. To debt interest. To consultants. To officers with titles you cannot pronounce. While the road outside your house breaks open. While the buses stop running. While the kids' playground rusts. You pay for a country that no longer exists. Bailey debases the pound. Reeves spends what is left. Starmer pretends none of it is happening. Three names. One racket. Your home town. This is what slow ruin looks like. And it is only just beginning I am sorry to say. Protect your family now and Opt OUT!

What an utterly disingenuous article. They surveyed 501 millionaires and discovered they’re happy for a 2% wealth tax on wealth of more than £10m… They asked them “would you pay more tax to fund the social, cultural, and economic attributes that make you proud to live in the UK?”. That’s a bit like asking “would you invest in Enron if it was a world-class, fast growth company run by top performing ethical executives?”. These 501 millionaires aren’t necessarily entrepreneurs or wealth creators. They’re people who have £1M assets outside their own home. That could be an NHS doctor with a 2 bed flat in Hackney and a family home in Essex. Almost none of them would be building a £10m+ business with investment behind it. Its a survey organised by “The Patriotic Millionaires”, a group of less than 50 people who mostly accidentally got rich during the dot-com era and took advantage of the lower taxes and stronger economic conditions of the day and now want to make things harder for the next generation of entrepreneurs. They had a meeting last year and only 20 people turned up. Their average net worth is about £3M and they won’t personally be impacted by wealth taxes on their more successful peers. If they were serious they’d start by paying the difference in entrepreneurs relief and corp tax they benefited from … don’t hold your breath. The poster boys for Patriotic Millionaires… Gary Stevenson who thinks a poetry phd should be earning in the 1%. Dale Vince who’s whole business runs on government funding. And Phil White who got lucky on a passive private equity deal. The most patriotic story in the UK is Robin Hood. He took back the money from the greedy tax collector Sheriff and gave it back to the business owners who had made something in the real economy. Wealth taxes will destroy the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the UK and serious business people know it. Don’t fall for this fake survey.

That’s because you don’t know a lot, haven’t lived in too many places and don’t have a wide enough circle to check shit premises. 1) we are far from anarchy. In fact we live a hyper regulatory state where ALL business is done by permission. 2) laissez faire capitalism is not anarchistic either but grounded in strict legal protections of individual rights and property rights… the only two rights that matter and from which all life springs. 3) all… quite literally all the trouble we find ourselves comes from state inference in the price mechanism and other interferences with free association and exchange. But you want more of what’s making us sick.

The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exisy today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil.

In the United Kingdom, we’ve managed to achieve communism for 95% of the population. If you have kids, unless you earn more than £80,000 gross, you have the same quality of life as those on benefits. And the government managed it without a revolution. Incredible really.

In the beginning there was Nothing. No space, no time, no matter. That's the only ingredient required to create an inevitable/perpetuating Universe, like a ripple effect, in 3D, on a canvas of Void. Understanding this explains everything about the Universe > Theory of Everything

They told us joining the EEC would be great for our manufacturing industries. Reality... - 3.5 million jobs lost - entire towns almost wiped out - £1 trillion in cumulative lost tax revenue That would have built a lot of hospitals, trains, roads, parks etc. Catastrophic. #Brexit
